The position is responsible for conceptualizing and lead wellness strategies, direct internal and external communications of the strategy, and advanced systems and processes for managing the delivery of the strategy. Job Duties and Responsibilities + Develop and implement overall strategy for health & wellness, health & safety, and early intervention programs ensuring competitive, cost-effective plans that drive a wellness culture that inspires, motivates, and equips employees to adapt and maintain a healthy lifestyle. + Assess departmental needs and develop short- and long-term plans to make necessary changes in policies, procedures, and standards in support of these plans while prioritizing compliance. + Direct and oversee programs providing immediate intervention, return to work support, counseling and crisis management, behavioral health, field response, peer support, and best practices for developing protocols for physical and mental health response through close collaboration with other key City and Community partners. + Provide subject matter expertise, leadership, and direction concerning performance, wellness, and safety concerns of Police employees. + Direct communication and training strategies based on best practices and current research to promote and continuously educate employees on benefits and wellbeing programs in partnership with the Training Academy. + Provide consultation to Training Unit to oversee the training and/or other programs on mental & physical health using best practices and current on issues including compassion fatigue, trauma, PTSD, burn out, etc. to law enforcement, leadership, and community partners. + Monitor administrative reports and daily crime briefings to direct and allocate safety, intervention, and/or wellness resources as appropriate. + Respond as needed to critical incidents of serious officer injury or death, natural disaster, catastrophic events, or similar as safety & wellness support is needed by Police employees. + Direct and provide organizational leadership and supervision, promoting the Cityu2019s values, to the areas of Health & Safety, Health & Wellness, and Early Intervention Systems. + Keep up to date on new and best practices around health, wellness, and safety of police officers and first responder populations. + Ensure that all standards and practices of the Minneapolis Police Departmentu2019s Health & Wellness Division meet the highest level of professionalism, care, and quality assurance. + Participate and oversite as needed in the budget process and procurement contracts established by the Health & Wellness Division which may include reviewing and authorizing expenditures, making necessary adjustments, and monitoring revenues. + Create and establish a system that will track and monitor all ongoing support and care offered by the Health & Wellness Team to support in proving compliance with MDHR and DOJ. + Direct marketing, promotion, and other communications to Police employees concerning safety, wellness, and early intervention systems. Help internal engagement, education, and promoting available services. + Provide directions over staff responsible for performing all duties in the Health & Wellness Division, and monitoring staff workloads to ensure that tasks are attended to in a timely manner. WORKING CONDITIONS: Combination of office and field work with the potential for exposure to dangerous individuals and situations. Required Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION: Master's Degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or closely related field or equivalent. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Five years of related work experience. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: LPC, LPCC or LICSW Selection Process The selection process will consist of one or more of the following steps: a rating of relevant education and experience and/or an oral examination (100%) .
