Job Description

The Senior Manager, Pharmacy oversees pharmacy operations to ensure high-quality patient care is provided in compliance with regulations, hospital policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and best practices. This role is responsible for leading and managing pharmacy department staff, developing and implementing pharmacy services, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to optimize medication management. The Senior Manager, Pharmacy plays a key role in strategic planning, quality assurance initiatives, and driving innovations in pharmacy practice to support the Instituteu2019s mission. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: u2022 Oversee and manage daily pharmacy operations across assigned areas, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, institutional policies, and SOPs. u2022 Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to pharmacy staff, including hiring, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations. u2022 Develop and implement quality assurance and quality control programs to maintain and improve pharmacy services. u2022 Collaborate with clinical teams, operational teams, research teams, nursing leadership, and other healthcare professionals to optimize medication management, support patient safety initiatives, and implement new procedures or workflows. u2022 Lead the development, standardization, and prioritization of pharmacy-related content, such as policies, SOPs, protocols, guidelines, and order sets. u2022 Lead and participate in departmental and institutional projects and committees affecting patient care, including technology implementations, process improvements, and compliance initiatives. u2022 Develop and monitor key pharmacy metrics, manage budgets, and oversee resource allocation to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations. u2022 Develop both short-term and long-term goals for Pharmacy in conjunction with leadership. u2022 Stay current on trends and developments in pharmacy practice, serving as a role model and mentor to staff. u2022 Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: u2022 In-depth knowledge of pharmacy practice, including medication management, oncology therapeutics, and regulatory compliance. u2022 Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team. u2022 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide exceptional patient care. u2022 Proficiency with healthcare IT applications such as Epic (Beacon/Willow) and pharmacy information systems. u2022 Analytical and critical thinking skills to assess operational data, identify areas for improvement, and implement effective solutions. u2022 Ability to prioritize and organize work within time constraints and adapt to a fast-paced environment. u2022 Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient safety, quality of care, and customer service. u2022 Experience with project management and ability to lead initiatives and manage change. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises staff. Hires, develops, and manages staff to achieve organizational goals. Sets clear expectations, delivers feedback, and monitors performance for quality, efficiency, and compliance with policies and procedures. Mentors staff, fosters career growth, and cultivates a positive and productive work environment. PATIENT CONTACT: Yes, may have direct patient contact through clinical specialist practice and consultative services. MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in pharmacy from an accredited college or university required; Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited college or university preferred. Minimum Experience: 7 years of pharmacy or related experience, with at least 5 years in oncology or related specialty required. 5 years in a supervisory or management role required. Residency or fellowship training preferred. License/Certification/Registration: Licensed Pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or other state where applicable required. Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy or related Board Certification or advanced training preferred. Pay Transparency Statement The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidateu2019s relevant experience, skills and qualifications. For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). $188,400.00 - $200,900.00
