Deficiency Collector

Description SUMMARY: The deficiency collector position is responsible for planning a course of action to recover outstanding payments, negotiate payoff deadlines, settlements, and payment plans. This position will also be responsible for legal assessments based on account balance, risk, and overall collectability. Assessments will include recommending replevins, judgements, and wage garnishments in order to maximize potential recoveries on past due accounts. The role is also responsible for servicing and collecting on auto loan accounts that impact delinquency and documenting all collection activities utilizing loan servicing software RESPONSIBILITIES: u2022 Perform periodic review of eligible accounts that require deficiency letters u2022 Prepare legal documents u2022 Perform skip work to locate viable assets u2022 Review Charge Off Deficiency campaign to determine next steps based on strategy u2022 Negotiate payment arrangements with borrowers, including offering suggestions as to how they can meet their obligations, propose alternative payment methods, and establish payment procedures u2022 Maintain satisfactory work efforts on multiple queues based on specified requirements u2022 Comply with all company policies, procedures, and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) u2022 Provide excellent customer service to customers u2022 Meet or exceed defined department goals and metrics Additional Skills & Qualifications u2022 Minimum 3 years collections experience u2022 Experience with post-charge off deficiency accounts preferred u2022 Strong phone contact handling skills and active listening u2022 Customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to different types of characters u2022 Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively u2022 Effective communication and negotiation skills u2022 Exceptional problem solving and persuasive skills u2022 High school diploma or equivalent Experience Level Intermediate Level #westpriority26 Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Foothill Ranch, CA.
