Patient Access Specialist

Description We are looking for a compassionate and detail-oriented Patient Access Specialist to join our healthcare team in Roanoke, Virginia. In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, ensuring their experiences are smooth and supportive. This is a Contract to permanent opportunity that offers the chance to work in a dynamic environment where strong organizational and interpersonal skills are essential. PLEASE NOTE: The hours for this role are 11am-11pm. on a rotating schedule. Responsibilities: u2022 Greet patients and visitors with professionalism and warmth, fostering a welcoming environment. u2022 Accurately handle patient registrations, verify insurance information, and update records in the system. u2022 Coordinate appointment scheduling, including confirmations and follow-ups, to ensure efficient patient flow. u2022 Process payments, collect co-pays, and reconcile daily financial transactions with precision. u2022 Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to streamline operations and deliver exceptional service. u2022 Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with all relevant privacy regulations. u2022 Address patient inquiries and concerns with empathy, escalating issues to the appropriate personnel when needed. u2022 Monitor and manage patient access workflows to ensure timely and accurate service delivery. u2022 Assist patients with understanding their insurance coverage and payment options when necessary. Requirements u2022 Previous experience in patient registration, scheduling, or a related role within healthcare. u2022 Strong knowledge of medical insurance verification processes and policies. u2022 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and staff. u2022 Proficiency in using healthcare management software and basic computer applications. u2022 High attention to detail and accuracy in handling sensitive patient information. u2022 Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of organization. u2022 Familiarity with confidentiality regulations, such as HIPAA compliance. u2022 Demonstrated ability to handle financial transactions, including co-pay collection and reconciliation.
