Responsibilities JOB KNOWLEDGE + Adheres to and supports the established policies of the hospital. + Regularly updates knowledge of all departments and hospital protocol and procedure changes. + Enhances professional growth and development by accepting responsibility for remaining current and competent by reviewing current literature, attending inservice education and staff meetings. + Knows location of and how to use Safety Data Sheets. PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS + Meets dress code standards of assigned unit, appearance is neat and clean. + Completes annual educational requirements. + Maintains regulatory requirements, including all federal, state, local regulations and accrediting organization standards. + Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time. + Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly. + Completes in-services and returns in a timely fashion. + Attends annual review and department in-services as scheduled. + Attends at least 80% of staff meetings annually; reads and returns all monthly staff meeting minutes. + Represents the organization in a positive manner. + Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities. + Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. + Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department. + Must be able to understand written and oral instructions pertaining to machine operations. + Must be acquainted with local fire and safety regulations. + Has knowledge of hospital policies and the functions of the other departments. + Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. + Performs a wide variety of typing assignments, including requisitions, forms, etc. + Greets patients and families in a professional and caring manner. + Answers phones in a timely, professional manner. MAIN JOB DUTIES + Assists in gathering information for the preparation of reports, patient tests, and billing. + Able to schedule procedures and exams in the computer system. + Maintains filing system in the department. + Maintains record-keeping and filing system of reports, films and requisitions according to departmental policies. Classifies, sorts and files correspondence, records, and other documents accordingly. Purges files in accordance with policy. + Files and charts medical reports and related material. + Assigns the proper patient consent form if an injectable study is to be performed. + Assists in locating patient files. + Transports patient to and from the Imaging Services Department. + Maintains department stock and orders supplies as needed. + Performs other duties as requested. + Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality. + Burns disk requests and prints reports for Medical Records and the Front Desk. + Maintains the OR technologistsu2019 schedule as a resource for department scheduling. + Assists radiology scheduling as needed. + Helps maintain the equipment and assists in cleaning the department, except for those duties pertaining directly to the Environmental Services staff. + Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric, and general population. + Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical or healthcare errors. + Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality. + Explains and informs patients and family members of instructions for imaging procedures. + Ensures patients are properly dressed and prepped for imaging exam. + Transports patients to and from vehicle as needed, as well as to and from other departments of the hospital. + Assists technologists with room turnover. Qualifications License or Certification + BLS required Total Education, Vocational Training, and Experience + High School diploma or equivalent. + Excellent communication skills, word processing skills, standard office procedure practices, and familiarity with medical terminology preferred. + Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. + Must be organized. + Must be able to understand written and oral instructions pertaining to scheduling and physician requests. + Must always be courteous and attentive to the patients.
