Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflightThis role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.As a functional manager of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of varying experience levels, you will lead a team of structures engineers responsible for the design and analysis of the New Glenn Second Stage secondary structures. As the Structures Engineering Manager, you will have technical, budgetary and schedule accountability for trade studies, detailed design, strength analysis, drawing release and you will follow through on manufacturing, testing and flight phases of the program.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Provide technical and personal leadership to the GS2 Structures Engineering TeamLead and execute peer reviews and readiness reviews in support of engineering releases and first article buildsEnsure timely release of engineering products including drawings, models, strength analysesManage workflow and balance priorities across the team in order to support schedule objectivesCoordinate and collaborate with other teams to meet design, build, and test milestonesApply robust, consistent, and reliable engineering fundamentals and to ensure requirements are metManage non-recurring and recurring cost, develop budgets, report against financial forecastDefine roles, responsibilities, and accountability for each direct report and across the teamLead or support maturation of configuration management and pedigree review processesMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Structures, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited institution6+ years of relevant engineering experienceIn-depth understanding of structures engineering principlesPrevious experience and success in developing / fielding new systemsPrevious engineering leadership in an aerospace environment with space hardware, aircraft or similar, mission critical high value componentsStrong personnel, project management and interpersonal skillsAbility to operate, make decisions, lead, and make forward progress in ambiguous environmentsUnderstanding of product life cycle management and associated gate reviewsAbility to communicate effectively at all levels of the organizationPreferred Qualifications:Master of Science in Mechanical, Structures, Industrial or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited institutionExperience managing direct reports and projects or programsExperience leading an engineering team in a production environmentExperience in developing and tracking to department financial targetsAdvanced experience in complex hardware Structures (i.e. castings, forgings, additively manufactured components, pressurized structures, welding, machining, cleaning, non-destructive testing methods, complex assembly and acceptance testing)Compensation Range for:WA applicants is $150,743.00 - $211,039.50Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDon't meet all desired requirements?
