Role The Energy & Sustainability Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing sustainability initiatives, energy management strategies, and carbonu2011reduction programs across the facilities portfolio. This role leads efforts to optimize building performance, reduce consumption, maintain regulatory compliance, and support corporate ESG objectives. In addition to leading sustainability programs, this position also oversees several key mechanical and lifeu2011safety systems, including EV charger infrastructure, mechanical preventive maintenance, and Fire Life Safety Systems (FLSS), as described in the attached job duties. Key Responsibilities 1. Energy Management & Sustainability Leadership u00b7 Develop and implement enterpriseu2011wide energy and sustainability strategies aligned with corporate carbonu2011reduction goals. u00b7 Identify energyu2011saving opportunities and lead implementation for HVAC, mechanical systems, lighting, controls, and other major loads. u00b7 Track, analyze, and report energy consumption, utility costs, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, water usage, and waste diversion metrics. u00b7 Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce energy intensity and improve operational efficiency. u00b7 Drive sustainability certifications (e.g., LEED, ENERGY STAR, TRUE Zero Waste) where applicable. u00b7 Partner with internal Workplace Manager(s) on crossu2011functional sustainability projects and initiatives. u00b7 2. Mechanical Systems Oversight & Preventive Maintenance u00b7 Lead preventive maintenance programs for all major mechanical systems and ensure execution of 100% PM compliance goals. u00b7 Act as the technical advisor for mechanical system optimization, reliability improvements, and lifecycle planning. u00b7 Oversee vendor performance for mechanical systems, ensure adherence to SOPs, monitor repairs, and ensure system uptime. u00b7 Support planning, budgeting, and prioritization of mechanical upgrades tied to sustainability goals, efficiency improvements, or compliance drivers. 3. EV Charging Infrastructure Management u00b7 Oversee operation, maintenance, and performance of all EV chargers across the portfolio. u00b7 Ensure EV charging systems maintain 95% uptime and meet 100% safety compliance , as required. u00b7 Partner with vendors to optimize load management, charging efficiency, demand response, and reporting tools. u00b7 Support expansion planning, infrastructure upgrades, and usage reporting for workplace charging programs. 4. Fire Life Safety Systems (FLSS) u00b7 Manage the maintenance, testing, and compliance of Fire Life Safety Systems (FLSS). u00b7 Ensure all FLSS meet 100% compliance with regulatory standards and remain fully operational. u00b7 Coordinate inspections, repairs, documentation, and system upgrades between vendors and internal teams. 5. Compliance & Regulatory Management u00b7 Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental and energy standards. u00b7 Maintain compliance for mechanical systems and fire life safety systems per regulatory requirements. u00b7 Support sustainability compliance reporting such as CARB, Title 24 benchmarking, waste reporting, or ESG disclosures. 6. Financial Responsibilities u00b7 Identify, scope, and prioritize energyu2011efficiency projects with ROI and lifecycle cost justification. u00b7 Manage budgets related to energy programs, mechanical maintenance, and sustainability projects. u00b7 Track utility rebates, grants, and incentives for energy and water efficiency projects. 7. Communication, Training & Stakeholder Engagement u00b7 Develop sustainability communications, building occupant engagement programs, and awareness campaigns. u00b7 Train internal teams and technicians on new sustainability programs, mechanical systems, or operational best practices. u00b7 Provide dashboards, metrics, and presentations to leadership regarding energy performance and sustainability progress. Goals & KPIs u00b7 Achieve 10% annual reduction in energy consumption for assigned systems and initiatives. u00b7 Maintain 100% preventive maintenance completion for mechanical systems. u00b7 Maintain 95% EV charger uptime and 100% safety compliance . u00b7 Ensure 100% compliance for Fire Life Safety Systems. Skills & Qualifications Required Skills u00b7 Strong knowledge of sustainability best practices, energy management, carbon reporting, renewable energy, and building performance optimization. u00b7 Technical understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, boilers, chillers, pumps, etc.) and preventive maintenance programs. u00b7 Familiarity with fire life safety systems, testing requirements, and compliance frameworks. u00b7 Experience analyzing utility data and using energy management platforms (e.g., EnergyCAP, Lucid, Urjanet, PowerBI). u00b7 Ability to manage vendors, contractors, and crossu2011functional project teams. u00b7 Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills. Preferred Skills u00b7 Experience with EV charging infrastructure and load management tools. u00b7 Knowledge of sustainability frameworks such as LEED, WELL, ISO 50001, ENERGY STAR. u00b7 Familiarity with CMMS, BMS, SCADA, and other building management or maintenance systems. Education & Certifications u00b7 Bacheloru2019s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related field. u00b7 Professional certifications preferred: CEM (Certified Energy Manager), LEED AP, ENV-SP, or equivalent. Additional Information Time Type: Full time Employee Type: Assignee / Regular Travel: Yes, 10% of the Time Relocation Eligible: No The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
