Description: The Marketing and Public Relations Manager for Cooperative Extension at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University will develop and lead the implementation of a strategic, comprehensive marketing and communication plan that aligns with the University, College and organizationu2019s vison and mission. The Marketing and Public Relations Manager will report directly to the Associate Dean and Extension Administrator. The primary goals of all communications strategies are to increase the visibility of Cooperative Extension at A&T while also promoting our educational programs across all 100 counties and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indian ( EBCI ) Nation. The Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for Cooperative Extensionu2019s communications efforts and collaborate with members of the University and College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences ( CAES ) public relations and communications teams. The Manager will also work collaboratively with the Director of Marketing and Communications at NC State Extension on matters relating to our joint partnershipu2014North Carolina Cooperative Extension as a way to build the partnership brand. Primary Function of Organizational Unit: N.C. A&T is a public, land-grant, doctoral research institution and has been the largest historically Black university in the country for the past decade. With an enrollment of 14,311 students in Fall 2024, the university offers 59 undergraduate degree programs, 36 masteru2019s programs, and 12 doctoral programs. It is Americau2019s top producer of Black graduates in Engineering and Agricultural Science bacheloru2019s programs, as well as a top five producer in numerous additional disciplines, including Liberal Arts and Communications/Journalism. Cooperative Extension at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is the Universityu2019s flagship educational outreach organization housed within the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences ( CAES ). Cooperative Extension at A&T provides researched-based educational information, programming and technical assistance to limited-resource audiences that address a diverse range of issues in four programmatic areas u2013 Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, Community and Rural Development, and 4-H Youth Development. Together with its partners u2013 North Carolina State University Cooperative Extension Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, state and county governments, a dynamic and resourceful system is formed. In addition to campus operations, Cooperative Extension has professionally staffed offices in almost half of the 100 counties in North Carolina and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Requirements: u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in a Public Relations, Journalism, Technical Writing, English, or related communications discipline. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. u2022 Five years of experience in public relations, marketing and communications. Strong knowledge of the fundamentals of writing, grammar, syntax, AP Style, and punctuation. u2022 Demonstrated experience applying the concepts and principles of social media, communications and marketing. u2022 Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, interact, and collaborate with colleagues orally and in writing, and work independently on a regular basis. u2022 Exceptional organizational, analytical, critical thinking and time management skills, and strong attention to detail. Strong oral and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills. u2022 Direct work experience using social media channels, especially Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. u2022 Demonstrated creative experience building social media audiences. u2022 Experience using web tools and software for analyzing and improving social and new media. u2022 Ability to multi-task, prioritize and balance varying volumes of work assignments and adapt to the changing needs of the office. u2022 Proficient in MS Office Suite software. u2022 Valid Driveru2019s license and personal transportation. u2022 Ability to travel and work after hours/weekends as needed. u2022 Must be able to lift equipment used on work sites. Preferred: u2022 Masteru2019s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Technical Writing, English, or related communications discipline; u2022 Working knowledge and understanding of Cooperative Extension in general, and more specifically NC Cooperative Extension. u2022 Knowledge and understanding of working and communicating with limited resource communities to include developing communications for the general public and those that may have low literacy levels.
