Maintains scheduling system to ensure it is accurate, up-to-date, and without conflicts. Completes pre-registration for patient clinical and financial data over the phone timely, accurately, and courteously. Maintains electronic records, ensuring accurate and up-to-date account information. Manages all incoming lines, specialty calls, and calls to providers. Presides over all forms of office communication including telephone, e-mail, and fax. Liaises with insurance providers, case managers, central business office, third-party Medicaid eligibility vendors, and registrars. Commands comprehensive knowledge of patient accounts related to scheduling, pre-registration, benefits eligibility, and payment. Confers with patients before visits to ensure preparedness and set clear expectations. Obtains necessary information for verifications, authorizations, and collection of benefits. Identifies and addresses potential scheduling, account, or payment issues. Obtains pre-certification and benefits compliant with patient’s insurance carrier rules and regulations in preparation for admission. Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage simultaneous assignments with attention to detail and accuracy. • Excellent verbal interpersonal and customer relations skills, with effective oral communication and listening abilities. • Proficiency in grammar and spelling, with skill in both written and verbal communication. • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions accurately. • Keyboarding (manual) skills with the ability to type at a minimum of 35 words per minute. • Computer skills with proficiency in using computer software programs in a Windows environment and the ability to learn new computer software programs as needed. • Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding, medical terminology, and an understanding of health insurance, including Coinsurance, Co-pays, and deductibles. • Ability to discuss patient-related issues confidentially and act accordingly, with excellent telephone etiquette and a detail-oriented approach to multi-tasking at a high level. • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, metric-driven environment, under pressure with deadlines, and with a variety of personalities and work styles. • Creative problem-solving skills with a eagerness to find customized patient-centric solutions, flexibility in schedule, and adaptability to constant change. • Skill in organizing and prioritizing work, following assignments through to completion, with data analysis and figure aptitude at a high level of accuracy. • Ability to work effectively both in a team setting and independently, be at work on time and as scheduled, and handle details with accuracy.
