Calspan is seeking aVehicle Measurement & Scanning Technicianto support automotive crash test and vehicle development programs. This is a hands-on role working directly with prototype and pre-production vehicles in a fast-paced testing environment.This position focuses on measuring, marking up, and 3D scanning vehicles before and after crash testing to provide accurate, high-quality data to our engineering teams and customers. Prior experience with CMM or metrology systems is helpful, but not required — Calspan will train motivated candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.Core Responsibilities Listed Below - Compensation and position level commensurate with education and experience.Perform pre-test vehicle measurements and physical markup per test plans and customer requirementsConduct post-test measurements and 3D scans to document deformation and test resultsOperate portable measurement equipment such as CMM arms and 3D scanners (training provided)Accurately document measurements, scan data, and observationsWork closely with test engineers, technicians, and vehicle preparation teamsReading and comprehending testing procedures and protocolsEnsure accuracy, repeatability, and adherence to established proceduresIdentify and communicate measurement issues or inconsistenciesMaintain a safe, organized work area and follow all safety and PPE requirementsSupport continuous improvement of measurement tools and processesRequired Qualifications:Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working hands-on with vehiclesHigh attention to detail and ability to follow defined proceduresAbility to document work clearly and communicate technical informationBasic computer skills and willingness to learn new softwareAbility to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentWillingness to work overtime as required (ample overtime available)Ability to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to stand and walk for up to12 hours per day, including uneven surfacesFrequent bending, lifting, reaching, squatting, kneeling, crawling, and twistingAbility to work around damaged vehicles, debris, and industrial test environmentsAbility to visually identify issues and respond to safety signalsPreferred Qualifications:Experience in automotive, manufacturing, testing, or inspection environmentsFamiliarity with CMMs, laser scanning, 3D scanning, or optical measurement systemsBackground in quality, dimensional inspection, or vehicle preparationEngineering Technology degree or related technical education, or equivalent hands-on experienceWork EnvironmentAutomotive crash test and development facilityHands-on work with prototype and pre-production vehiclesFast-paced environment driven by customer and test schedulesOver time opportunities are common and anticipatedWhy join Calspan?Be Calspan CultureAt Calspan, we promote an environment that empowers employees and encourages innovation.
