Job SummaryGalapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking a motivated and well-qualified individual to join our team as a Systems Administrator Intermediate. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse and skilled team supporting mission-critical systems.The Systems Administrator Intermediate is responsible for supporting system administration activities, including the installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of operating systems and software. Under general direction, this role contributes to system reliability, performance, and overall operational effectiveness.Responsibilities include coordinating and supporting technical efforts across projects, assisting in task prioritization, and ensuring system administration requirements are aligned with organizational IT objectives. The administrator also implements system enhancements, maintains system integrity, and supports long-term planning for systems operations and infrastructure.Key ResponsibilitiesThe Systems Administrator Intermediate will:Install, configure, and maintain servers, hardware, operating systems, and associated components in accordance with organizational standards and operational requirementsSupport and maintain systems hosting GIS infrastructure and Asset Management applicationsDevelop, document, and maintain system installation, configuration, and operational proceduresContribute to and enforce system standards and best practicesResearch and recommend innovative and automated solutions to improve system administration efficiency and scalabilityPerform daily system monitoring, ensuring availability and integrity of servers, applications, and key processesReview system and application logs, and verify completion of scheduled jobs, including backupsConduct security monitoring to detect and respond to potential intrusions or vulnerabilitiesPerform and validate backup and recovery operations, ensuring proper data protection and offsite storage proceduresManage user accounts and access controls in accordance with organizational policiesProvide Tier III technical support, troubleshooting and resolving complex system and application issuesDiagnose and recover from hardware and software failures, coordinating with stakeholders as neededApply operating system patches, updates, and upgrades, and maintain system utilities and servicesPerform performance monitoring, tuning, and capacity planning, including resource optimization (CPU, memory, storage)Support data center operations, including environmental monitoring systems and equipmentMaintain accurate system documentation and support continuous operational improvementSkills and ExperienceThe Systems Administrator Intermediate must have:Active Secret Clearance3+ years of experience in systems administration or related IT rolesStrong knowledge of server installation, configuration, and maintenance in enterprise environmentsExperience managing hardware, operating systems, storage, and system servicesFamiliarity with system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting methodologiesExperience with backup and recovery processes and data protection best practicesUnderstanding of system security practices, including access control and vulnerability monitoringAbility to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across hardware and software environmentsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsEffective written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentationAbility to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional IT teamsEducation and CertificationsThe Systems Administrator Intermediate must have the following:RequiredBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline preferred or have equivalent experience Cloud+ or GICSP or SSCP or Security+ or GSECBenefitsMedical, dental, vision, disability, and life insuranceFlexible Spending Accounts401(k)PTOPaid Parental leaveTuition reimbursementPaid federal holidaysSecurity ClearanceMust be a U.S. Citizen.
