Communications Technician I & IIJob Summary The Communications Technician II plays a key role as both a skilled technician and a lead member of a technical team. This position is responsible for performing hands-on technical work while coordinating small crews of installers to ensure daily tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company quality standards. This role offers opportunities on 1st shift (7:00amu20136:00pm) and 2nd shift (1:00pmu201310:00pm). Candidates should be flexible, as shift assignments may vary based on availability. The team is currently seeking Technician I (entry-level candidates with some training preferred) as well as Technician II professionals. Job Duties & Responsibilities + Pull and install 4u201d Microduct while adhering to company commercial labeling standards + Work effectively in an active construction environment + Perform testing including: + Continuity testing of horizontal and riser cable + Use of volt-ohmmeter + Troubleshooting opens, crosses, shorts, and transposed pairs + Use of tone sets + Identify active voice and data circuits + Assume responsibility for crew performance by providing training, coordinating personnel, and managing timelines to ensure project completion + Accurately and timely complete all required paperwork, including timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers, and other documentation as required + Adhere to and actively participate in all company, customer, and industry safety and quality standards + Perform additional responsibilities as assigned Physical & Mental Requirements + Self-motivated, positive, and professional with a focus on continuous improvement + Promote company culture and mission to employees, vendors, clients, and business partners + Act as a company liaison when interfacing with customer representatives + Demonstrate strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, along with the ability to read, write, and deliver oral presentations + Ability to: + Work at heights, off ladders, and in confined spaces + Lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds + Distinguish colors, read small print, and recognize audible signals such as dial tones + Ability to travel within branch and/or regional territories as needed + Regular attendance is mandatory Tools are provided. Skills + Terminations + Troubleshooting + Testing + Installation + Cabling + Rack and stack + Cable installation + Structured cabling + Punchdown + Cat6 Top Skills: Terminations, Troubleshooting, Testing, Install, Cabling, Rack and Stack Additional Skills & Qualifications Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements: + High School diploma or GED equivalent + Minimum of two (2) years of experience in telecommunications or a related technical field with demonstrated ability to supervise others + Proficiency with required tools + Proven ability to interpret blueprints and project documentation, including specifications, reporting, and quality requirements + Knowledge of universal communications color codes + Must meet company minimum driving standards Experience Level Intermediate Level Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Albany, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
