Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team in Portsmouth, Virginia. This Contract to permanent position offers an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong bookkeeping and accounts payable skills who is eager to grow and take on additional responsibilities over time. The role includes handling payroll tasks and assisting with monthly financial closings, journal entries, and related duties. Responsibilities: u2022 Process and manage accounts payable transactions with accuracy and efficiency. u2022 Perform payroll-related tasks, including calculations and timely disbursements. u2022 Assist in monthly financial closings by preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts. u2022 Maintain organized and up-to-date bookkeeping records. u2022 Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations. u2022 Investigate and resolve discrepancies in invoices and payments. u2022 Prepare reports and summaries related to accounts payable and payroll. u2022 Support the implementation of new processes to enhance efficiency. u2022 Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations. u2022 Provide assistance with additional accounting responsibilities as needed. Requirements u2022 Proven experience in accounts payable functions u2022 Solid understanding of bookkeeping principles. u2022 Ability to work efficiently under deadlines and manage multiple tasks. u2022 Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. u2022 Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. u2022 Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. u2022 Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities. u2022 Familiarity with journal entries and financial closings is preferred.
