Summary The Garner VA clinic is located in Garner, North Carolina. It provides multi-specialty care, as well as Primary Care, Mental Health and Urgent Care to approximately 25,000 Veterans throughout Wake County and surrounding counties in Eastern North Carolina. The new Garner VA clinic will also offer specialty services. Responsibilities VA Careers - Licensed Practical Nurse: Licensed Practical Nurse - vacareers.va.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/Total-Rewards-of-a-LPN-Career-Flyer.pdf The Licensed Practical Nurse in the Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in the Garner VA will function as a nurse in support of the Physician/Advanced Practice Provider and Registered Nurse in the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) focuses on maintaining health and managing the care for patients with a variety of medical problems including hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, cancer, congestive heart failure and other chronic diseases. The clinic is designed to provide comprehensive primary care services, including gender specific care to male and female Veterans. Limited Dermatology care is provided by Dermatology providers. The LPN has an encounter with patients on each visit for screening, education and referrals. Using protocols, nursing staff can order tests, lab work, enter consult requests and administer immunizations. PT-INR Clinic; a Pharmacy based clinic is available to provide care and monitoring for stable patients receiving anti-coagulation therapy. Medication management is provided by the clinical Pharmacist. Nurse visits provide care for patient issues not requiring a provider appointment, for example such as blood pressure checks, blood sugar monitoring, medication administration, immunizations, ear irrigations and education related to disease/self-management and equipment The LPN will work under the direction of ten RN and report to the Ambulatory Care Nurse Manager. He or she will perform, report and record assigned nursing care in the Primary Care Clinics, including and not limited to: - Assisting with minor procedures, including and obtaining and arranging necessary equipment, positioning patients, ensuring comfort and privacy -monitoring patient during procedures - Provision of direct nursing care to patients with an emphasis on patient teaching, care coordination and interventions such as EKGs and phlebotomy - Documentation of care activity -Perform procedures, treatments and delegated tasks - Medication administration and oxygen therapy -Clinical reminders with appropriate consults and alerts as indicated -Cleaning and reprocessing of reusable medical equipment. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 hour tours between the hours of 7:00am-6:00pm Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior work experience or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
