Sales Representative

Position Summary We are seeking a motivated and driven Sales Trainee to join a team in the lumber and building materials industry. This entry-level role is designed to develop future sales professionals by providing hands-on training in product knowledge, customer service, and sales processes. The Sales Trainee will work closely with experienced team members to learn how to build customer relationships, generate sales, and support daily operations. Key Responsibilities Sales & Customer Support Assist customers with product inquiries, pricing, and order placement Develop an understanding of lumber, building materials, and related products Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, builders, and walk-in customers Support outside sales representatives with quotes, follow-ups, and account management Training & Development Participate in structured training on products, sales techniques, and company systems Learn inventory management, order processing, and logistics coordination Shadow experienced sales staff to gain hands-on experience Operations Support Coordinate with yard, warehouse, and delivery teams to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment Monitor inventory levels and assist with stock replenishment as needed Ensure accurate entry of orders and customer information into company systems Administrative Duties Prepare quotes, invoices, and sales documentation Maintain organized records of customer interactions and transactions Follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction and repeat business Qualifications Skills & Abilities Strong communication and interpersonal skills Customer-focused with a positive, team-oriented attitude Willingness to learn and grow in a sales career Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office or similar systems) Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required Previous customer service or sales experience preferred but not required Interest in construction, building materials, or related industry is a plus Physical Requirements & Work Environment Ability to work in both office and outdoor yard environments May require standing, walking, and lifting materials up to 25-50 lbs occasionally Comfortable working in varying weather conditions as needed
