Teacher for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (DHH) + 2026u20132027 School Year + Location: Varnville, SC + Full-Time u2022 37.5 Hours/Week u2022 39-Week Contract + Start Date: August 3, 2026 We are seeking an experienced and student-centered Teacher for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (DHH) to join a supportive and collaborative team for the upcoming 2026u20132027 school year. The ideal educator will provide high-quality instruction to deaf and hard-of-hearing students in a classroom-based setting, using specialized strategies, communication systems, and adaptive tools to meet each learneru2019s unique needs. Position Overview The Teacher for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing will instruct students in academic subjects using either standard curriculum or modified instructional methods tailored to the DHH population. This role supports studentsu2019 academic growth, communication skills, and overall development while ensuring equitable access to education. Key Responsibilities + Provide instruction aligned with IEP goals for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. + Use sign language, amplification devices, and other assistive tools appropriately. + Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet student needs. + Collaborate with general education teachers, SPED staff, administrators, and families. + Participate in the IEP process, assessments, progress monitoring, and documentation. + Maintain accurate records and utilize Ed Plan and PowerSchool for reporting. + Support studentsu2019 communication development and academic success. Minimum Requirements + Bacheloru2019s degree from an accredited university (preferred) + Valid state teaching certificate as required by state regulations + Knowledge of sign language and amplification devices + Experience working with deaf and hard-of-hearing students (preferred) + ASL proficiency exam or certification (may be required per state/contract) + Compliance with all professional standards of practice + Current CPR certification (if applicable) + TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable) + Current health certificate (if required by state or contract) + Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements + Must be at least 18 years old Out-of-state certifications will be considered if valid and in good standing. Candidates must have all required steps for reciprocity completed prior to clearance.
