Lead Mechanic

Now Hiring: Foreman / Lead Mechanic Join a Highu2011Performing Team in a Strong Small-Shop Environment Position Overview We are looking for an experienced Lead Mechanic to oversee daily operations and guide a team of two mechanics in our busy rental shop. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy equipmentu2014including excavators, forklifts, loaders, and other construction machineryu2014while ensuring quality work, safety, and efficient workflow. The ideal candidate is a skilled technician with strong diagnostic abilities, leadership experience, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service. Key Responsibilities + Lead, mentor, and develop a team of two mechanics. + Perform maintenance and repairs on diesel, hydraulic, and small-engine equipment. + Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools, service manuals, and technical bulletins. + Coordinate daily workload and scheduling in partnership with the branch manager. + Provide accurate repair estimates and assist with customer billing as needed. + Maintain organized, detailed documentation of all maintenance activities. + Ensure strict adherence to shop safety standards and procedures. + Operate equipment for diagnostic and repair purposes. + Continuously grow technical skills through training and hands-on learning. Essential Skills & Experience + Strong mechanical aptitude, particularly with construction and heavy equipment. + Proven experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems. + Prior supervisory or lead-role experience in a mechanical environment. + Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with customers and team members. + Ability to train and support technicians with varying skill levels. Preferred Qualifications + Experience within the rental equipment or construction industry. + Ability to interpret and work from blueprints and technical drawings. + Familiarity with construction management processes.
