The Specialty Clinic (BS 5) is located at 79 Retreat St. on the fifth floor of the Brownstone building of Hartford Hospital and in the MOB. BS-5 clinic has over 4,500 patient visits annually. There are over 10 different specialty clinics held on various days of the week. Clinics include services from Cardiology, ENT, Breast, Gastro, Urology/Cysto, Trauma, General Surgery, Neurology/Epilepsy, Bloodless Surgery, and Pulmonary. Staffing includes attendings, PA, fellows, residents, RNs, MA, MAA and Data Manager. BS-5 staff guides patients through the health system, including appropriate referrals for services to other health professionals. Job Summary: The Patient Service Coordinator is responsible for providing outstanding and professional customer service to ensure operational efficiency and promote a positive patient experience. Job Responsibilities: u00b7 Greets and registers arriving patients, completes registration forms and verifies insurance, including scanning and faxing forms as necessary. u00b7 Answers incoming calls, evaluates priority, and directs calls according to the urgency and subject matter. u00b7 Mails information to new patients prior to visit in accordance with department policies and enters / updates patient demographics. u00b7 Schedules new patient appointments and informs patients of essential preparation requirements prior to visit per department policies (referrals, x-rays, medical reports, etc.). u00b7 Ensures that office appointment schedule is coordinated with clinical staff activities. u00b7 Reviews assigned appointment confirmations to ensure accurate schedule and appropriate communications with patients; completes appointment confirmation activities according to department policies. u00b7 Schedules follow-up appointments. Verifies insurance coverage and obtains authorizations. u00b7 Orders department supplies. u00b7 Maintains schedule for conference room. u00b7 Maintains a clean waiting room and office area. u00b7 Defines and resolves patient/physician issues/problems, bringing concerns to team lead or manager as necessary. u00b7 Completes facility billing according to facility level criteria. Refers payment and insurance problems to Billing Department. u00b7 Provides back-up support to other clerical staff and performs other related duties in support of efficient operations. u00b7 Performs other duties as assigned. u2022 Bilingual Spanish required. u2022 High School Diploma or equivalent required. u2022 Associate or bacheloru2019s degree in a clinical or business field preferred. u2022 2 years of relevant experience required. u2022 2 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced medical office preferred. u2022 Verbal and written proficiency in English required. Proficiency in a second language preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements u00b7 Ability to adhere to HIPAA, OSHA and CSG policies. u00b7 Ability to provide excellent and efficient customer service. u00b7 Positive, customer-focused approach, with commitment to providing excellent patient care. u00b7 Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment. u00b7 Excellent written and verbal communication skills - ability to communicate in other languages highly desirable. u00b7 Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment juggling multiple competing tasks and demands. u00b7 Strong computer skills - solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office software. u00b7 Knowledge of medical terminology insurance requirements and medical billing/coding. u00b7 Ability to travel independently to satellite offices with or without advanced notice.
