This job was posted by : For moreinformation, please see: SummaryGalapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking a motivated Linux ApplicationsAdministrator to join our team and work alongside a diverse group oftalented professionals dedicated to mission success.The Linux Applications Administrator provides application administrationsupport for Linux-hosted applications within the Defense TravelManagement Office (DTMO) Enterprise Infrastructure. This role isresponsible for the lifecycle management of Government Off-The-Shelf(GOTS) and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) applications, includinginstallation, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, updates, logging,and patching.The administrator serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for DTMOsupported Linux applications, supporting users and IT leadership. Keytechnologies include Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Apache, Tomcat, LDAP,Oracle Unified Directory, Red Hat Single Sign-On, and Splunk.Responsibilities also include monitoring the DTMO Passport website andapplications during core business hours (0600-2200 ET, Monday-Friday)and providing on-call support for critical incidents outside thosehours. The role works closely with DMDC IT System Administrators,supports disaster recovery testing, participates in Governance Boardactivities, and follows ITIL best practices for incident management androot cause analysis.Key ResponsibilitiesThe Application Administrator for Linux will:- Install, test, deploy, debug, update, and patch DTMO GOTS and COTS applications on Linux platforms- Troubleshoot application concerns and respond to inquiries from application users- Support logging software that captures security events and feeds into DMDC-approved software- Configure user access and monitor system stability and security through the software development life cycle- Coordinate with DMDC IT System Administrators to resolve infrastructure-related issues- Perform application maintenance, review error logs, and resolve reported errors- Provide technical support and guidance to DTMO users and IT managers- Support setting up external connections, whitelisting activities, port and protocols, submission requests, and validations- Ensure application and DTMO Passport website monitoring during core hours (0600 to 2200 Eastern Time, Monday through Friday) and on-call basis for mission-critical incidents at all other times- Coordinate with DMDC to develop and maintain technical documents such as network diagrams, standard operating procedures, and ports and protocols lists- Support Governance Board processes including documentation development, change request review, level of effort estimates, impact assessments, and stakeholder coordination- Coordinate with DMDC to support disaster recovery tests to reinstate DTMO Passport website- Restore normal operation after incidents, prepare root cause analysis, and apply ITIL best practicesResponsibilitiesSkills and ExperienceThe Applications Administrator for Linux must have:- Must obtain and maintain a Tier 3 (T3) or higher background investigation- 5+ years of experience in Application Administration- Experience administering Linux-based applications in enterprise or government environments- Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, or Ubuntu- Experience with application installation, configuration, patching, and lifecycle management- Familiarity with Linux command-line tools, system services, and shell scripting- Experience with system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting techniques- Knowledge of network services, file systems, and sy tem security practices within Linux environments- Experience supporting change management and system updates in production environments- Ability to diagnose and resolve application issues in coordination with system administrators and developers- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional IT teams and federal stakeholders- Experience with Apache web server- Experience with Tomcat application server- Experience with LDAP and Oracle Unified Directory- Experience with Red Hat single sign-on- Experience with Splunk technology for application management, security, and compliance- Experience with SaaS, PaaS, and cloud platforms- Strong written and verbal communication skillsEducation and CertificationsThe Applications Administrator for Linux must meet the following:Required- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fields. (Red Hat Linux Certified System Administrator certification can be used in place of a bachelor's degree)- Relevant professional experience in Linux systems or application administration may substitute for formal education in some cases.
