Are you living your life's work? Summary: + The UPHS ECMO Coordinator will have responsibilities at both HUP (60%) and PPMC (40%). The position is responsible for the supervision and training of the technical staff in collaboration with surgeons and perfusionists including ensuring competencies and educational requirements for APPs, RNs, MDs, and perfusion are developed and reviewed in accordance with UPHS policy. Also responsible for maintenance of equipment in collaboration with perfusion. Primary responsibility for the ELSO database and ensuring all patients and data points are captured in a timely manner and outlines a defined workflow for data submission to ELSO database. Will also work to build reports from ELSO database. Member of a multidisciplinary ECMO team. Ensures there is a QA review process in place for annual ECMO evaluation internally. In collaboration with physicians, will establish formal policies and procedures outlining indications, contraindications, clinical management, termination of therapy, and follow up of each ECMO patient and will review policies and procedures on a routine basis according to UPHS policy. Will establish a well-defined follow up program for all patients. Leads routine, formal meeting of the ECMO team. Participates in the UPHS ECMO Symposium. Establishes a process for reviewing major complications and deaths, formal case reviews (as outlined by TJC regulations) and development of an Annual Data Report. Institutional liaison with ELSO, ensuring our participation in that organization and institutional awareness of ELSO recommendations, etc. Responsible for ushering UPHS through the process of becoming and then maintaining status as an ELSO Center of Excellence. Responsibilities: + Maintain ELSO database including data capture, develop reporting workflow, developing / distributing reportsDevelop QA process and report out at M&M and other relevant meetings as directed by ECMO Program MD DirectorAchieve and then maintain ELSO Center of Excellence for UPHSParticipate in annual UPHS ECMO symposiumDevelop competencies and educational requirements related to ECMOEnsure that HUP and PPMC have standardized protocols, education requirements, competencies Credentials: + CCP or RN or RRT (Required) + Must hold current RN, Perfusion, or Respiratory Therapy licensure in PA if an RN, Perfusionist, or Respiratory Therapist.Respiratory Therapists must hold RRT credential and Perfusionists must hold CCP.ORIf Candidate does not hold current RN, Perfusion or Respiratory Therapy licensure, a Candidate with an Advanced Degree in Biomedical Engineering/Bioengineering will be considered Education or Equivalent Experience: + Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required) + Education Specialization:Equivalent Experience:u20223+ years Experience working in a clinical role in a surgical setting.u2022Prior experience with ECMO patients and databases preferred We believe that the best care for our patients starts with the best care for our employees.
