Job Description

Serve as the senior strategic lead for advocacy and government affairs initiatives across federal, state, and local levels. Develop and implement multi-yearu00a0government relations strategiesu00a0aligned with the organization's long-term objectives. Deliver insights and recommendations to the Executive Leadership Team on legislative, regulatory, and political risks and opportunities.u00a0Cultivate and manage executive-level relationships with senior government officials, agency leaders, and key policymakers. Represent the organization in high-stakes meetings withu00a0legislators, regulatory agencies, and industry coalitions to influence policy outcomes. Draft and deliver testimony before legislative committees and regulatory boards on behalf of theu00a0organization. Oversee the development of policy white papers, op-eds, and official position statements to establish the organization as a thought leader in public policy. Collaborate withu00a0internal cross-functional teams (legal, communications, operations) to guide and ensure alignment of organizational policies with external government affairs strategies.u00a0Provide oversightu00a0and strategic support for PAC activities, encompassing compliance, fundraising management, and targeted political contributions. Negotiate strategic partnerships and agreements withu00a0government entities and influential advocacy groups to advance organizational priorities. Administer financial planning and oversight for government relations activities, covering lobbyingu00a0and stakeholder engagement initiatives. Provide mentorship and subject matter expertise to government relations analysts and interns, advising on strategic priorities, ensuring complianceu00a0with regulations, budgets, or deliverables. Lead crisis response strategies for government-related challenges, safeguarding organizational reputation and compliance.u00a0Must have a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy or Public Affairs. Must have at least 2 years experience in government relations and public affairs including policyu00a0development and advocacy. Experience in legislative and regulatory procedures and knowledge of political institutions and frameworks; experience in developing and maintaining strategicu00a0bipartisan relationship with elected officials and their staff to advocate for client interest across multiple levels of government; representing small to mid-sized minority-owned businesses inu00a0matters related to government procurement opportunities and size standard classifications; collaborating with city council members and their staff to advance client policy objectives,u00a0organizing comprehensive lobby days to maximize advocacy impact; and demonstrated experience navigating local, state, and federal procurement processes also required. Must haveu00a0strong relationship-building and policy expertise, with the ability to effectively communicate complex business issues to government stakeholders and ensure equitable access tou00a0contracting opportunities for small to mid-sized minority-owned businesses. Must have demonstrated knowledge in public agency programs and operations, related legislative,u00a0intergovernmental relations, legislative terminology, community relations, and public relations issues and challenges. Expertise in legislative tracking tools to monitor proposed bills,u00a0regulatory changes, and legislative trends impacting small and minority-owned businesses required. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to build relationships andu00a0influence diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership. Must possess ability to multi-task and work under pressure; be result-oriented; and have attention to detail. Telecommutingu00a0permitted.
