Thephysician will serve as the attending of record for the inpatientconsultative palliative care service, leading interdisciplinary teams inthe assessment and management of patients with serious illness andcomplex symptom and communication needs. Responsibilities includeproviding expert consultation to primary teams, delivering patient- andfamily-centered care, and coordinating closely with interdisciplinaryteam members including advanced practice providers, nurses, socialworkers, and chaplains. The physician will also serve as the primaryattending provider for patients admitted to the palliative care orhospice service, overseeing medical management and care planning forpatients with advanced illness. A key component of the role includessupervision and education of Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellows,internal medicine residents, and medical students, with activeengagement in bedside teaching, case review, and mentorship of traineesacross clinical settings. In addition to clinical responsibilities, thesuccessful candidate will contribute to the academic mission of theDivision of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care and theDepartment of Medicine. Faculty participate in program-wide initiatives,including quality improvement, educational programming, andinterdisciplinary collaboration aimed at advancing palliative caredelivery.
