Journeyman Wireman - Security SystemsLocation: Boise, ID, United StatesCategory: InstallerDescriptionPosition PurposeThe role of the Security Installation Technician is to provideinstallation and basic technical labor on projects according to plansand specifications and directions from Project Manager or pensation: Paid in accordance with local union rates.Benefits: This position is collectively bargained and all benefitsare provided by the union.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform eachessential duty satisfactorily. The essentialfunctions of this position include but are not limited to:- Install low voltage wire and devices for systems sold by SS- Follow directions from the Technical Supervisor and Project Manager- Alert Senior Technical Supervisor and/or Project Manager to any changes or obstacles that could impede the scope of work as defined by the project- Attend meetings as required- Troubleshoot problems with equipment or wiring as called for in project or T&M scopes of work- Stay familiar with installation materials and control devices; their function, use, and proper mounting & installation- Work independently and be able to coordinate job installation and completion with onsite personnel, but also ask for guidance before starting an unfamiliar task- Attend training functions as necessary- Other duties as assigned.Qualifications- High School Diploma or equivalent- 1+ year of installation experience- Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications- Place a high value on quality of workmanship, attention to detail and safe work practices for self and others- Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial- Experience working both independently and in a team- Must have basic hand tools for the electrical industry, small cordless tools a plus Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies- Ability to travel for the purpose of meeting with owners or off-site personnel/management.- Comfortable working at heights- Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients and other departments- Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and productsPreferred Qualifications- Knowledge of basic electricity such as AC/DC theory, ohms law, ability to read and understand a digital volt/ohm meter a plus- Strong customer service skills a plus- No candidate will meet every single desired qualification.
