PPSC offers broad programs in transfer, occupational, and preparatory subjects emphasizing student and community needs. Colorado Springs is a great city to both work and live. This position is located at the Pikes Peak State Centennial Campus. Description of Job Your application must provide a detailed description of your relevant work experience in relation to the following duties : Position is responsible for providing a safe working and learning environment by protecting life and property, detecting of crime, preventing of criminal activity, investigating, community services, and enforcing of all laws, rules and regulations. Criminal Law Enforcement duties include: u2022 Respond to all calls for service, both criminal and non-criminal u2022 Conduct field interviews of suspicious people and their conduct u2022 Investigate alleged criminal actions, collect evidence as needed, interview victims, witnesses, and suspects u2022 Arrest and/or detain person(s) as appropriate and provide proper advisements to those under arrest as needed u2022 Conduct appropriate traffic enforcement for motor vehicle violations u2022 Investigate and record (as appropriate) motor vehicle accidents and render aid as needed u2022 Patrol/monitor campus to deter, prevent and/or discover criminal activity and/or people in need of Law Enforcement services u2022 Safely respond to both criminal and non-criminal emergencies u2022 Always utilize hands free device when operating a state vehicle u2022 Work in collaboration and constructive cooperation with fellow officers, Departmental Leadership, and other departments u2022 Provide for effective community relations with the public through verbal and written communication u2022 Check schedule daily to ensure compliance with scheduled shifts u2022 Arrive for shifts ready to start at scheduled time in proper duty uniform with all required equipment, and remain present and in proper uniform for duration of scheduled shift. u2022 Body camera to be worn on front of uniform shirt, and powered on for the duration of your assigned shift. Record keeping and evidence handling duties include: u2022 Prepare reports, both written and verbal, regarding all activities performed during a shift u2022 Complete daily patrol logs for each shift and submit by end of shift u2022 Prepare and complete necessary reports regarding criminal activity for presentation to District Attorney for prosecution u2022 Prepare and complete necessary reports for Campus Administrative action or actions, to include dissemination to PPCC u2022 Reports to be completed by end of shift unless authorized by a Staff member u2022 Prepare and preserve all necessary and required evidence, and log and store the evidence properly u2022 Testify, as required, in court u2022 Activate Body Camera when required by Department policy or stale law u2022 Categorize Body Camera videos when uploaded or by the end of each shift. u2022 Update 24-31-901 Tracking Report as required by SB 20-217 Additional duties include: u2022 Maintain crowd and traffic control at public events such as political rallies, demonstrations, concerts, and sporting events u2022 Provide specialized enforcement for public events such as political rallies, demonstrations, concerts, and sporting events u2022 Coordinate efforts with appropriate Law Enforcement regarding dignitary protection and security u2022 Provide Law Enforcement escort as appropriate for campus monetary operations u2022 Assist the motoring public as needed Lock/unlock PPSC facilities as needed and continuing education u2022 Participate in in-service and specialized Law Enforcement training and continuing education u2022 Maintain proficiency in firearms, arrest control, defensive tactics, and any P.O.S.T. required training u2022 Maintain an ongoing familiarity with current Law Enforcement legal issues and recent local, state, and federal court decisions that affect Law Enforcement u2022 Complete all assigned Police One training by due date u2022 Provide community relations with the public through verbal and written communications and exchanges u2022 As assigned, provide crime prevention and safety lectures and demonstrations u2022 As assigned, provide certified child restraint safety checks u2022 Appear when requested and required in the appropriate court (County, District, etc.) u2022 Provide and give testimony relative to the investigation of crimes and the charging of individuals with criminal and non-criminal offenses u2022 Maintain Instructor certification through the issuing authority through instructing and/or professional development as required to maintain certification. u2022 Comply with all P.O.S.T. mandates to instruct classes.
