Job Description The Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various machines depending on the day's work order, etc. This role also involves material handling and ensuring the production of high-quality products. Responsibilities + Understand and apply information from the Instruction Sheet + Set up, run, shut down, troubleshoot, clean, and perform general maintenance of machines. + Take regular samples, and report discrepancies to lab personnel and supervisor. + Thoroughly clean boxes, lids, and skids before use. + Maintain production logs and quality control records. + Accurately compute weights and record them in the appropriate places. + Become certified as a forklift + Load and unload materials and place them in inventory locations using a forklift or pallet jack. + Prepare boxes for material by labeling and removing extra labels. Essential Skills + Experience in a manufacturing environment around machines is preferred. + Ability to make mathematical computations, including adding, subtracting, and calculating percentages. + Good handwriting for record-keeping purposes. + Experience in troubleshooting within a manufacturing environment. + Sit-down forklift experience. + Ability to stand for the entire shift, except during breaks. + Ability to lift up to 65 lbs occasionally. + Comfortable with heights for aerial lift operations. + Steel-toed or composite-toed shoes are required. + Availability to work mandated Saturdays if business needs dictate. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Mechanical aptitude and basic math skills. + Quality check experience. + Knowledge of machine operation and production processes. Avaialbe Shift & Pay + 2nd Shift: 3:30pm - 12:00am, Monday - Friday + 3rd Shift: 11:30pm u2013 8:00am, Sunday - Thursday + $19-22 based on experience Why Work Here? Work Environment The work environment is a traditional manufacturing setting with large machines, some reaching two stories high. Employees should be prepared for a setting with some dust and noise, requiring hearing and eye protection. The temperature can be hot in the summer and comfortable in the winter. PPE requirements include steel or composite-toed shoes, clothing that does not pose safety risks, and personal hygiene standards. The facility operates multiple shifts: 1st Shift (7:30am u2013 4:00pm), 2nd Shift (3:30pm - 12:00am), and 3rd Shift (11:30pm u2013 8:00am). No cell phones or smart watches are allowed on the production floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment.
