FTE: 1.000000 Standard Hours: 40.00 Shift: Shift 2 Job Summary:Serves as a department expert and is responsible for assuring standardsare met for the sterilization processes, record keeping, and staffcompetencies on the assigned shift. Ensures that all appropriateregulatory and clinical standards of practice regarding thesterilization of equipment and supplies are adhered to by the staff onthe shift being supervised. Assures staff follows established policies,procedures, and practices for the sterile processing department whichincludes decontamination, packaging, sterilization and return ofreprocessed supplies and instruments to support quality patient carethroughout FMLH. Responsible for personnel management on the assignedshift. Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: A minimum of 2years work experience in a hospital based Sterile Processing Departmentis required. Leadership experience in any healthcare work setting thatinvolves instrument reprocessing or experience as a lead/charge tech,educator or trainer in a Sterile Processing Department is required.EDUCATION DESCRIPTION: High School diploma or equivalent is required.Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field or CentralService/Sterile Processing Tech internship/training is preferred.SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION: Knowledge of Infection Control and JCAHOStandards knowledge of asepsis; surgical techniques, or instrumentation,and Sterile Processing patient care equipment. Interpersonal skillsnecessary to communicate effectively with subordinates in providingeffective leadership. May compile objective and measurable data andproduce reports. Has specialized knowledge and technical expertise withsterilization and operating equipment. Competent computer skills.LICENSURE DESCRIPTION: Certified Registered Central Service Technician(CRCST) from the IAHCSMM or Certified Sterile Processing andDistribution Technician (CSPDT) from the CBSPD is required within 18months of employment. Certification in Healthcare Leadership (CHL)within 18 months of employment is preferred.
