This class differs from Equipment Operators in the type of equipment used. Truck Drivers operate various types of heavy trucks for a major portion of the time. Equipment used by truck drivers includes dump trucks, refuse collection trucks and equipment of comparable difficulty. Acceptable Experience and Training + Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and + One (1) year of experience in the operation of various types of trucks. Required Special Qualifications + Possession of a valid Iowa Class A CDL with tank endorsement and allowing the operation of tractor trailers and vehicles with airbrakes. + Candidates for positions in this class must pass a pre-employment background check, physical examination and drug screen.
