Akima is looking for an Industrial Security Director to work in Herndon, VA on a hybrid basis . The Director of Industrial Security serves as the senior leader responsible for all aspects of the companyu2019s industrial security program in support of a diverse set of federal, defense, and intelligence customers. This role ensures strict compliance with the National Industrial Security Program (NISP), Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) requirements, contractu2011specific DD254s, customer security directives, and internal corporate policy. This position leads a distributed security organization of six staff, including Facility Security Officers (FSOs), Industrial Security Specialists, and Insider Threat personnelu2014mirroring the multiu2011site structure noted in your enterpriseu2019s own security operations. To join our team of outstanding professionals, apply today Responsibilities Program Leadership & Compliance + Serve as the senior corporate official for all industrial security matters across the enterprise. + Oversee compliance with NISPOM, DCSA requirements, ICDs, and contractu2011specific security obligations. + Ensure proper execution of DD254s, access requirements, VARs, visit authorizations, and briefing/debriefing processes. + Lead preparation and responses for DCSA security reviews, audits, and assessmentsu2014an emphasis consistent with responsibilities outlined for your FSOs and Sr. FSOs. Personnel, Information & Facility Security + Manage oversight of clearance processing, reinvestigations, and continuous evaluation for a large, cleared workforce. + Direct the safeguarding, storage, and handling of classified information across multiple SCIFs, secure work centers, and contract sites. + Ensure appropriate employee onboarding/indoctrination, annual training, and security awareness programs. + Serve as the senior advisor on insider threat program execution. + Process FCL requests for our organization to include new subsidiary companies and Joint Ventures. Operational Excellence & Mission Support + Partner with program leadership, CORs, and government security officials to ensure smooth execution of contract security requirements and operational readiness. + Provide security consultation during capture, proposal, and new program standu2011up phases. + Drive consistency, efficiency, and accuracy across security processes used by geographically dispersed teamsu2014mirroring the multiu2011state security team configuration in your enterprise data. Team Leadership & Development + Lead, mentor, and develop a team of FSOs, Security Specialists, and Assistants. + Establish performance expectations, training plans, and succession strategies to strengthen bench depth. + Promote a customeru2011focused, missionu2011driven security culture that enables growth and operational agility. Policy, Governance & Continuous Improvement + Maintain and enhance corporate security policies, standard operating procedures, emergency action plans, and classified IT/security protocols. + Ensure alignment between industrial security, governance, compliance, and enterpriseu2011level risk management initiatives. + Identify and implement process improvements that streamline workflows and elevate overall security posture. Qualifications + Active Top-Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI and other accesses. + 15+ years of progressive experience in industrial security within a large government contracting environment. + Deep understanding of NISPOM, DCSA policies, and federal security frameworks. + Significant experience managing multiu2011site security teams and supporting highu2011volume, fastu2011paced cleared operations. + Demonstrated success preparing for and leading organizations through DCSA assessments. + Strong leadership presence and ability to build rapport with government officials, program managers, and corporate executives. + Excellent communication skills, executive maturity, and crisisu2011management capability. Preferred Qualifications: + FSO certifications or Insider Threat Program Officer credentials (consistent with certifications noted across your current security staff. + Experience with SAP/SAR, SCI programs, IC customer requirements, and special access facilities. + Experience with DOE and their processes. + Knowledge of personnel security systems (e.g., DISS, NBIS) and classified information systems environments. + Prior leadership experience supporting large, complex defense or intelligence portfolios.
