Job Description

The lead store associate position is a keyholder position responsible for independently opening and closing the store in the absence of store management. This role supports the team by guiding associates, stockers, and cashiers through opening and closing duties, helping to maintain store standards, and ensuring an excellent customer shopping experience. Position Type: Full-Time Average Hours: 38 hours per week Starting Wage: $22.00 per hour Wage Increases: Year 2 - $22.50 Year 3 - $23.00 Year 4 - $23.00 Year 5 - $24.00 Duties and Responsibilities: Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation. u2022 Oversees the appropriate resolution of employee and customer concerns, aligning with store management as needed. u2022 Communicates job responsibilities and performance expectations to store personnel in the absence of store management to ensure desired results. u2022 Assists store management with implementing action plans to improve operating results and personnel development. u2022 Informs store management of team developments and concerns in a timely and effective manner. u2022 Communicates, cooperates, and interacts effectively with all levels of ALDI employees, customers, third-party vendors, and business partners. u2022 Leads, develops, and supervises the team to develop sales, engage our teams, satisfy our customers and achieve consistent high performance. u2022 Understands the overarching company strategy and models the core values of the organization. u2022 Fosters a positive and collaborative working environment and promotes teamwork among employees. u2022 Stocks shelves and displays neatly while following merchandising planograms to maximize sales. u2022 Properly utilizes the point-of-sale (POS) system to accurately scan and process customer purchases and informs store management of scanning concerns or errors. u2022 Complete curbside pickup orders by accurately retrieving items from the store, verifying order contents, and ensuring timely delivery to customersu2019 vehicles from the staging area. u2022 Executes opening and closing duties in the absence of store management. u2022 Delegates and oversees the completion of tasks to store associates, cashiers, and stockers in the absence of store management. u2022 Assists store management in achieving operational efficiency goals. u2022 Assists store management in achieving total loss goals. u2022 Adheres to cash policies and procedures. u2022 Resolves concerns from store personnel and customers and/or refers such concerns to the store manager as necessary. u2022 Models, communicates and monitors compliance with established policies and procedures. u2022 Ensures store personnel adhere to expense guidelines, inventory procedures, product handling, and cash handling policies to minimize loss. u2022 Ensures store personnel maintain zone standards and merchandising standards at all times. u2022 Ensures store personnel comply with the companyu2019s guidelines, policies and procedures; demonstrates appropriate interactions with co-workers. u2022 Supports store management in ensuring a safe working environment by rectifying and identifying unsafe conditions, including poor ergonomics and equipment concerns to prevent injuries or accidents before they occur u2022 Performs general cleaning tasks to company standards. Physical Demands: u2022 Required to push, pull, sit, stand, reach, grasp, twist, bend, and move from one area to another. u2022 Required to lift, carry, and place products weighing up to 45 pounds on shelves at various heights, including overhead. u2022 Required operation of equipment such as a cash register, electric and manual hand jacks, floor scrubber and cardboard baler. u2022 Required to stock product in varying temperatures, including freezer and cooler environments. u2022 Required to use glass and multipurpose cleaning products. Job Qualifications: Knowledge/Skills/Abilities u2022 Ability to develop rapport, trust, and open communication that enhances the performance of the team. u2022 Ability to work independently and within a team to provide effective leadership of store personnel and achieve planned results. u2022 Ability to understand and implement Standard Operating Procedures and company policies to achieve the store's goals and maintain compliance standards. u2022 Ability to perform leadership and administrative duties. u2022 Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service. u2022 Ability to operate all store equipment such as cash registers, floor scrubber, cardboard baler, pallet jacks, handheld devices, computers, etc. u2022 Develops and maintains positive relationships with internal and external parties. u2022 Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. u2022 Ability to organize, prioritize and complete activities to maximize the total time available. u2022 Ability to establish and successfully execute plans and goals. u2022 Ability to maintain reliable and prompt attendance. u2022 Ability to meet availability requirements. Education and Experience: u2022 At least 18 years old required. u2022 High school diploma or equivalent preferred. u2022 Prior experience in a retail environment and prior management experience preferred.
