As the Welding in our manufacturing facility, you will perform a normal range of carbon arc, metal arc, and gas shielded arc welding operations as assigned on a variety of paper machinery components and weldments. This includes Refiner parts, Rotors, Core chucks, rider roll housings, roll stands etc., fabricated jigs and fixtures, and related plant repairs and maintenance. Here are some additional duties that you can expect: Weld in all positions for structural and mechanical strength. Materials processed comprise various grades of ferrous and nonferrous metals and alloys. Equipment used consists of overhead bridge crane, jib boom suspended automatic welders, plasma and oxyacetylene torch cutters, universal welding positioners, endless band saw, a variety of weld wire in coils, spools, or straight lengths, applicable flux materials and hydraulic or mechanical press. Receive direction from the Supervisor and job instruction from Fabricator on unusual or prototype work. Work from worth orders, detail weldment drawings, and specifications that include ASME code requirements. Welds are subjected to sophisticated test and inspection requirements that involve die penetrant and magnetic particle inspection. Interpret drawing and work orders to determine fixture and welding requirements. Fabricate holding fixtures, as directed and in accordance with weldment dimensional tolerances and allowances for spring of material. Select welding wire and tips appropriate to work requirement, and set current, amperage, gas pressures and related controls. Set up work on table, floor positioner, or prescribed fixture. Secure with block, clamps, and related holding devices to tack and weld in accordance with specifications. Uses care to lay a smooth bead, attain proper penetration and fusion, avoid distortion, and dress welds as appropriate. Repair welds after test and inspection, as assigned, in accordance with applicable specifications and procedures. Detect and report faulty operations, defective material, questionable drawing requirements, and unusual conditions to proper Supervisor. Perform work of acceptable quality requirements in accordance with engineering specifications. Maintain working area in neat and orderly condition adhering to 5S standards. Adhere to standards of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001. Make out time and production reports. Follow all prescribed safety rules and regulations. Perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned during business. Daily LN maintenance - Closing orders, issuing material as needed, outbound logistics, cycle count or other inventory requirements as needed. Adhere to Valmet Inc. Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) goals and directives. Perform other duties as assigned. What you’ll need. To be successful in this role, you are willing and have the ability to learn a wide variety of technical products, ERP systems, and specialty applications. You are assertive, tech savvy, and not afraid to ask questions. You will need to learn and get certified in overhead crane and forklift operations. Prior experience is preferred. What we offer?
