Position Description: Job Title: Host & Service Support (Wait Assist / Food Runner) Department: Front of House Reports To: General Manager / Floor Manager / MOD Pay Rate: $16.37 per hour + tips Position Summary The Host & Service Support team member plays a dual role in delivering an exceptional guest experience. This position is responsible for managing the front door, reservations, and guest flow while also supporting the service team through wait assist and food running responsibilities. This role requires strong organization, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and hospitable in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is proactive, team-oriented, and genuinely passionate about hospitality.Key Responsibilities Host & Reservation Management Arrive on time and in proper uniform, prepared for service. Answer phone calls, take reservations, and respond to guest inquiries, listen to and return voicemails in a timely manner. Strategically plot reservations to maximize capacity and service flow, manage the waitlist and walk-in flow effectively, update table statuses in OpenTable throughout the shift. Review guest notes prior to service and accommodate special requests when possible. Print and distribute guest notes to servers, managers, and expo. Warmly greet all arriving guests and provide a professional first impression. Recognize and acknowledge VIP (PPX) and repeat guests. Anticipate and communicate seating delays to guests and management. Maintain a clean and organized host stand and entryway. Service Support & Dining Room Flow Bus, clear, and reset tables efficiently and with attention to detail. Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked service stations. Keep the dining room and bathrooms clean and guest-ready at all times. Restock towels, toilet paper, and other restroom supplies as needed. Assist servers with refilling waters, clearing plates and glassware, and crumbing tables. Follow the principle of full hands out, full hands back at all times. Complete assigned weekly cleaning and organizational duties. Food Running & Communication Run food from the pass to the correct table and seat number. Provide confident, accurate descriptions of dishes when presenting food. Maintain complete knowledge of the menu, ingredients, and cooking techniques. Communicate clearly and efficiently between expo, kitchen, and service team. Support accurate and timely delivery of all food items. Assist with boxing and bagging to-go orders. Coordinate curbside pickup when needed. Guest Experience Engage with guests in a friendly, professional, and hospitable manner. Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to requests. Ask guests if there is anything else they may need before leaving the table. Maintain a calm, organized presence during high-volume service. Schedule Expectations This is an hourly position requiring consistent evening and weekend availability. Scheduled shifts will include hosting and service support responsibilities. Some closing shifts may be required. Skills & Qualifications Ability to think clearly and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in OpenTable reservation management system preferred. Familiarity with POS systems and restaurant menu knowledge. Strong multitasking and prioritization skills. Professional, friendly, and polished demeanor. Team-oriented mindset with a genuine desire to support others. Accurate knowledge of table and seat numbering. Commitment to hospitality standards and guest experience. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and move throughout the restaurant for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and carry trays, dishes, and glassware. Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions during service.
