Mechanical Design Engineer Fully Remote Advanced Reactor Design Natrium Program Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to support nextu2011generation Gen IV advanced reactor technologies, including the groundbreaking Natrium Reactor. In this role, you will be a key contributor to the design, verification, and performance of the primary sodium mechanical pump for the Natrium demonstration plant. Key Responsibilities + Own and deliver on cost, schedule, quality, and technical accuracy for assigned engineering tasks. + Lead mechanical design, analysis, evaluation, and verification efforts for the Natrium Primary Sodium Mechanical Pump. + Execute a wide range of engineering activities, including analysis, modeling, testing, and system integration. + Perform engineering hand calculations and develop detailed models to support design validation. + Generate and review drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation to ensure compliance with technical and quality standards. + Assess technical risks, root causes, and causal relationships to support issue mitigation. + Prepare and present detailed technical findings to internal stakeholders. + Collaborate in a matrixed team environment, facilitating open dialogue and cross-functional engagement. + Partner with subject matter experts to ensure that mechanical designs meet all application, performance, and regulatory requirements. Essential Skills & Experience + 5+ years of experience with an OEM; nuclear industry experience preferred. + Strong background in design verification, specification review, and technical drawing review. + Experience working within NQA programs. + Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor for 3D mechanical design. + Hands-on experience with field deviation and nonu2011conformance resolution. + Proficiency in ANSYS FEA for mechanical analysis. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bacheloru2019s degree in Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution. + U.S. Citizenship required. + Strong understanding of reactor systems, reactivity control systems, and commercial nuclear plant operations. + Proven technical competence within a project management environment. + Strong communication skillsu2014both written and verbal. + Experience in commercial nuclear power plant systems, outage activities, and industry best practices. + Professional Engineering (PE) license or advanced technical degree strongly preferred. + Minimum 2 years of experience serving as a lead or key contributor on major engineering projects. + Experience in the design, evaluation, or operation of nuclear plant mechanical components. Work Environment This is a fully remote engineering position focused on R&D, design review, and verification. You will work with some of the most advanced technologies in the cleanu2011energy sector, contributing directly to the development of nextu2011generation nuclear reactor systems. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Wilmington, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr.
