Job Title: Thermal Analysis EngineerJob Description We are seeking a talented Thermal Analysis Engineer with expertise in precision optics for infrared (IR) payloads. This role involves detailed thermal analysis of optical components such as mirrors, mounts, and telescopes, specifically for cryogenic applications. The ideal candidate will collaborate with design and test engineering teams to build and test subsystems and payloads, while leading thermal analysis teams. Responsibilities + Perform detailed thermal analysis of precision optics for IR payloads, including components such as optical mirrors, mounts, windows, filters, focal plane mounts, and telescopes for cryogenic applications. + Collaborate with design engineering and test engineering teams for the build and test of subsystems and payloads. + Lead thermal analysis teams for IR payloads and mechanical subsystems. + Communicate effectively during internal and external presentations and reviews. + Author thermal analysis sections of Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs), Critical Design Reviews (CDRs), and other required design reviews. + Prepare thermal analysis sections of Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs) and Supplier Data Requirements Lists (SDRLs) for customer compliance. + Assist with scheduling, costing, and technical leadership of major subsystems and payloads. + Complete cost estimation for thermal analysis Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for proposals. + Participate in risk assessment and develop mitigation strategies for complex optical payloads. + Collaborate across functions to minimize gaps in requirements, responsibilities, and payload performance. Essential Skills + Bacheloru2019s Degree in STEM with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of related experience is required. + Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance. + Minimum of 4 years of experience in thermal analysis and testing for space environments, including temperature and vacuum conditions. + Proficiency in 3D CAD design. + Experience in performing thermal analysis of optical elements for optical distortion due to thermal stresses. + Experience leading thermal vacuum test events and fixture analysis efforts. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Expertise in space mechanisms, NASA standards, mechanical engineering, thermal design, and structural analysis. + Experience with infrared payloads. + Strong leadership and communication skills. Work Environment The role involves working as a consultant on a T3 government program with a 9/80 work schedule. The position offers a hybrid work environment, requiring on-site presence as dictated by the program while allowing for remote work otherwise. Up to 20% travel may be required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Clifton, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $110.00/hr.
