Upstream Processing Technician Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Upstream Processing Technician to support the manufacture of Commercial and Clinical Biologics. The successful candidate will work within the Harvest Team and adhere to Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) while carrying out various functions related to upstream cell culture processes. These functions include propagation of mammalian cell culture, conducting aseptic operations, executing large-scale production bioreactors, and performing large scale filtration or centrifugation. Additionally, the role involves manufacturing buffers and bulk reagents with limited supervision and participating in process improvement projects. PAY - $28/hour Responsibilities + Review all area documents to ensure accuracy and compliance. + Assist in the manufacture of controls and calibrators while completing batch records following cGMPs. + Perform in-process assays using equipment such as spectrophotometers, pH meters, and clinical analyzers. + Transfer, mix, and handle chemicals as required. + Conduct product filtrations and perform cleaning and steaming of steel tanks (CIP/SIP). + Prepare glassware and steel tanks for sterilization in autoclaves and operate the autoclave. + Maintain laboratory equipment, including pumps, pH meters, and flow meters. + Keep department lead or manager informed of all issues. + Monitor and manage stocks of common laboratory supplies. + Respond to emergency notifications promptly. + Work flexible hours, including weekends. Essential Skills + Minimum of 2 years of work experience in manufacturing, operations, production, lab setting, or related field. + Bachelor's Degree in Science with knowledge of aseptic techniques, cell culturing, and pipetting. + Experience in a cGMP environment is preferred. + Knowledge of cGMP practices, aseptic techniques, and chemical concepts is preferred. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Subject Matter Expert in upstream processing steps is preferred. + 6 months of experience in a GMP regulated environment is preferred. + 4-year STEM degree is preferred. Work Environment The work environment includes clean room/aseptic suites, requiring full gowning, which includes bodysuit, gloves, hair and beard nets, face covers, and safety glasses. Employees must be willing to work in rotating 12-hour shifts, with a schedule involving 7 working days over a 2-week period. The role requires the ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs independently and the ability to stand for 80% of the shift. Personal items such as makeup, jewelry, nail polish, cologne/perfume, and scented lotions or hair care products are prohibited in this environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
