Some of what you'll be doing: This is a full-time summer and part-time school year internship opportunity expected to last one year.This internship position willhelpthe Accounts Payable section with a focus in the Accounting and Financial Reporting department. Some of your essential duties include: + Performing a wide variety of accounts payable functions including, but not limited to: processing vendor invoices, verifying accuracy and proper approvals, matching invoices to purchase orders, and ensuring timely payments. + Preparing and processing payment runs (checks, ACH, wire transfers), maintaining vendor records, and resolving invoice discrepancies through communication with vendors and internal departments. + Assisting with month-end close activities, including account reconciliations, accruals, and maintaining accurate financial records. + Supporting audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries related to accounts payable transactions. + Performing special projects and other duties as needed. What else you need to know: + Work Schedule u2013The summer internship work schedulewill be Monday u2013 Friday,between the hours of8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role.This position may be extended to part-time hours during the school year. + Work Environment u2013 This position operates primarily in a remote environment. Monthly onsite attendance is required, with additional in-office days scheduled in coordination with your manager as needs arise. + Limited Duration u2013 This is a limited duration position and is expected to last no longer thanone year. + Washington State Residency Requirement u2013 Employees mustestablisha residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and mustmaintaina residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle.
