Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic Job Description This role involves performing preventative and mechanical maintenance on rail cars and equipment used to transport packaged cement products. The position requires expertise in MIG welding and the use of various tools, including a grease gun. Additionally, the maintenance mechanic will carry out repairs on equipment located several flights of stairs above the ground, requiring physical comfort with climbing stairs. Responsibilities + Conduct preventative and predictive plant maintenance projects. + Perform millwright tasks such as bearing replacement, equipment alignment, and power transmission inspection and repair. + Execute welding and cutting tasks, including the fabrication of plant equipment and repair of worn process equipment. + Inspect and maintain lubrication for mechanical equipment, and record data for running equipment. + Drain oil and change oil and filters on all equipment oil reservoirs. + Carry out pipefitter tasks to maintain and inspect piping systems. + Operate mobile equipment to assist with maintenance duties. + Perform plumbing inspections and repairs on plant equipment and facilities. + Adhere to all safety rules and regulations, wearing appropriate safety equipment on plant grounds. + Meet or exceed company safety standards. + Complete other responsibilities as assigned by management. Essential Skills + Proficiency in MIG welding. + Mechanical aptitude and experience in preventative maintenance. + Ability to troubleshoot 480 V systems and rail car batteries. + Strong attention to detail and pride in work quality. Additional Skills & Qualifications + General labor experience. + Heavy lifting capability. + Equipment operating experience is preferred but not required. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work environment is a cement supplier facility, which is very hot and outdated, with continuous exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, and outdoor conditions. Protective equipment is mandatory. The team is small, typically 2-3 people, and collaboration is key to meeting production goals. The dress code includes long pants, a t-shirt, and steel-toed boots. The first shift runs from Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, with occasional Saturdays and potential overtime during peak periods. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr.
