Requisition No: 872637 Agency: Environmental Protection Working Title: GOVERNMENT OPERS CONSULTANT III - 37010098 Pay Plan: Career Service Position Number: 37010098 Salary: $65,000-66,188 Annually; Commensurate with experience Posting Closing Date: 04/03/2026 Total Compensation Estimator Tool ( GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS CONSULTANT III State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection ANTICIPATED VACANCY This position is located in Jacksonville, FL Position Overview and Responsibilities: This is a high-level professional position reporting to the Director of District Management. + Ombudsman and Public Services + Facilitates open communication with the public by acting as liaison to the districtu2019s programs. + Assists the public with district issues, facilitates public records requests, fosters effective and open communication, promotes responsiveness, and provides information to the public. + Implements a partnership program with the business community in an effort to promote economic development within the district and enhance the districtu2019s business climate. This includes developing relationships with the private sector, education community, and local governments to assist with new business development, advancement of local businesses, grow targeted industry sectors, and business relocation. + Press and Media Relations + Serves as liaison to the DEP Press Office. + Communicates concisely and effectively through the news media to Florida citizens, policy makers, businesses and other parties regarding the districtu2019s role in protecting, preserving and enhancing the stateu2019s environment and natural resources. + Attends or ensures attendance at applicable and/or required training courses, workshops, teleconferences, meetings, and seminars. + Provides assistance and guidance to the general public, consultants, governmental agencies, and key stakeholders regarding state and federal requirements regardless of media type. + Will conduct organizational studies and evaluations on office procedures providing technical assistance and developing procedures to assist them to operate more efficiently and effectively. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: + + Knowledge of terminology, principles, and analytical techniques of communications. + Knowledge of data collection and analysis principles and procedures. + Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to a communications program. + Skilled in problem solving, managing conflict and negotiating mutually acceptable outcomes across multiple programs. + Ability to use a personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite. + Ability to understand and apply applicable regulations, policies, and procedures relating to communication programs. + Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments. + Ability to work independently. + Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing. + Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and leadership. + Ability to interact with customers in a tactful and courteous manner. + Ability to identify solutions to problems and exhibit positive problem-solving techniques. + Ability to meet established performance standards as identified in the district performance standards document. + Experience with educational programs and communication across multiple audiences. + Experience with workload coordination and assignment of tasks within a multi-functional team.
