Research Scientist, Hwang Lab + Job Number: 25584 + Functional Area: Research - Scientific + Department: Biology + School Area: Science + Pay Range Minimum: $72,000 + Pay Range Maximum: $92,000 + Employment Type: Full-Time + Employment Category: Exempt + Visa Sponsorship Available: Yes + Schedule: + Pay Grade: No Grade Email a Friend Save Save Apply Now Posting Description RESEARCH SCIENTIST, HWANG LAB, Biology, to help lead and expand experimental efforts in enzyme discovery and biochemical characterization; develop and apply high-throughput experimental platforms to discover, characterize, and functionally annotate enzymes across diverse sequence space; and independently design and execute high-throughput assays, mentor trainees, and help organize and scale experimental operations in a fast-moving research environment. This position offers the opportunity to shape the labu2019s experimental infrastructure, co-develop new assay platforms, mentor students, and contribute to high-impact publications and grant proposals. The full job description is available, here: Job Requirements REQUIRED: PhD in biochemistry, chemical biology, molecular biology, microbiology, or related discipline; a minimum of two years of hands-on research experience in an industrial or academic laboratory setting, may include experience as a graduate student; strong track record of experimental productivity (publications or equivalent research output); and ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. PREFERRED: Experience building or scaling high-throughput experimental platforms; experience with mass-spectrometry (e.g. LC-MS/MS) and metabolomics; familiarity with automated liquid handling systems; and interest in machine learning and AI. 3/23/2026
