Job Description Position Summary This appointment is in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Pathology ( in the Dobos laboratory (. Working 15-25 hours per week, this position is designed for the applicant(s) to support pilot research projects conducted during breaks in the academic year. Support for pilot projects entails keeping the laboratory and office spaces clean and organized, washing laboratory glassware, ordering and re-stocking reagents and supplies for the laboratory, assisting with coordination of equipment maintenance, preparing biochemical, biological, and cell culture reagents, and other laboratory assistant duties as skills are developed and needs arise. Essential Job Duties + Preparing biochemical, biological, and cell culture reagents, + Keeping the laboratory and office spaces clean and organized. Washing laboratory glassware. + Ordering and re-stocking reagents and supplies for the laboratory. + Assisting with coordination of equipment maintenance. + Other laboratory assistant duties as skills are developed and needs arise. Conditions of Employment The research assistant shall successfully complete security required elements for employment at the Foothills Campus as a condition of employment. Supervision The research assistant(s) will be supervised for day-to-day activities by a research associate (RA), graduate research associate (GRA), or an undergraduate research associate (URA) that has been in the laboratory for over 1 year. Formal management through workday will remain the responsibility of Dr. Karen Dobos. Minimum Qualifications + Demonstrated interest in biomedical life science (through current major, school concentration, participation in extracurricular activity with a life science focus, etc.). + Demonstrated experience in customer service and strong communication skills. + Demonstrated strength in team environment. Preferred Qualifications + Demonstrated analytical skills (accounting, treasurer of clubs/teams) and previous laboratory experience (other than teaching labs) are strongly preferred.
