Job Description GENERAL PURPOSE Drive truck or tractor at vehicle parking, yard or docking areas to move, position or park trucks and trailers to facilitate shipping and receiving functions. Transport trucks and trailers for repairs, as necessary, according to policies and procedures and safety protocols. May also operate wash bay using all necessary equipment to clean tractors and trailers. Keep the yard neat and orderly. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES u00b7 Perform trailer movement according to prioritization to optimize plant or warehouse efficiencies and production needs u00b7 Hook, unhook and move trucks to and from the service department and around dock area u00b7 Spot or position loaded and unloaded trailers at assigned dock space for unloading or loading u00b7 Connect loaded semitrailers to tractors for the drivers u00b7 Maintain accurate trailer and inventory movement log u00b7 Follow steps to ensure proper operation and perform periodic preventive maintenance including pre and post trip inspections of equipment in the area u00b7 Perform duties required to ensure that assigned area is sanitary and clean u00b7 Wash exterior of trucks and trailers if appropriate for yard location u00b7 Complete sales route deliveries and/or over-the-road routes, as needed u00b7 Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety, DOT, and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity and accidents and injuries u00b7 Attend all driver workshops and training sessions u00b7 The requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee, but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required. Other duties may be assigned as required Requirements EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE u00b7 High School Diploma or equivalent u00b7 Tractor/trailer experience, within the last five years preferred u00b7 Must meet minimum age requirements u00b7 Meet all DOT requirements u00b7 Meet Dairy Farmers of America Motor Vehicle Record requirements u00b7 Certification and/or License u2013 Current CDL (Class A) license in state of residence; current tanker endorsement if needed KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES u00b7 Understanding of DOT transportation regulations related to lawful operation u00b7 Able to work safely and recognize sudden hazards and adjust accordingly u00b7 Able to use computers and technology needed for the job u00b7 Skills with math sufficient to calculate load size u00b7 Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing u00b7 Able to interact positively and work effectively with others (interpersonal skills) u00b7 Able to be proactive in seeking solutions, taking appropriate steps for problem-solving u00b7 Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork u00b7 Able to follow directions and meet deadlines u00b7 Able to interpret and apply company policies u00b7 Able to adapt and manage to change effectively u00b7 Able to perform task and duties with limited supervision u00b7 Able to follow through on day-to-day responsibilities u00b7 Able to be punctual u00b7 Must be able to read, write and speak English An Equal Opportunity Employer including Disabled/Veterans Pay Range 20.63-35.89
