Job Description

Instructs group fitness classes. Provides excellent service to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positiveenvironment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies andprocedures. Responsible for providing safe, effective programming for members in group fitness classes.Leads group fitness classes to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.Conducts energizing, fun, safe, and educational classes.Builds effective relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and theYMCA community.Maintains working knowledge of up-to-date health, fitness, and wellness industry standardsand trends to provide effective information and support to members.Reports regular, accurate, up-to-date class attendance records.Follows YMCA and Health & Wellness Department policies and procedures; responds toemergency situations as needed.Communicates effectively and in a professional manner with team members and staff; activelyresponds to Health & Wellness Department communications in a timely manner.Performs various duties for Health & Wellness Department as requested by Health & WellnessDirector.Minimum Qualifications:Current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (must have a hands-on, live component)Current Group Fitness Instructor and/or Personal Trainer Certification by a Nationally Accredited Certifying Agency (i.e. ACSM, NASM, AFAA, ACE, NESTA); or current Specialty Instructor Certification (i.e. Cycling, Yoga Alliance, Pilates, Zumba®, Tai Chi); or Bachelor’s degree inrelated field (i.e. Kinesiology, Dance, Health Science, Child Development, Public Administration - Non-Profit Organization)Experience teaching in a group fitness class settingPreferred Qualifications:Ability to teach 2+ different group fitness class formatsExperience working in a health club and/or community center environmentExperience working with a variety of exercise populations (Senior population a plus)Availability to sub Group Fitness Schedule classes for Health & Wellness staffCompetitive compensationComprehensive health benefits - Medical, Dental, Vision for full-time employees - 60% YMCA covered medical benefits for full-time employees and their familiesRetirement benefits - 10% employer contribution after completion of eligibility requirementsEmployee Assistance Program for all employees that is available to help employees overcome emotional, family, or other personal problems; offers guidance on financial and legal issues; improves health and wellness, and much more.CPR/First Aid Certification provided by YMCAUse of YMCA of Superior California Fitness facilities, camps, and rental facilitiesPaid time off benefits for part-time and full-time employees upon completion of eligibility requirementsTraining and staff development for all employeesUSD $27.00 - USD $27.00 /Hr.
