Accounting Specialist

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Specialist to join our team in Youngstown, Ohio. This role is within the manufacturing industry and offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and fast-paced environment. As a Contract to permanent position, it provides the potential for long-term growth and development within the organization. Responsibilities: u2022 Operate the cash register for cash sales and purchases, ensuring daily balancing and regular reconciliation of petty cash. u2022 Record supplier information and vendor bills for lumber, maintenance supplies, and pallets, matching them against purchase orders and transferring data to QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop. u2022 Generate purchase orders for maintenance-related parts and supplies as needed. u2022 Execute month-end financial tasks, including intercompany billing, sales tax calculations, quarterly organizational taxes, and road tax processing, which involves tracking fuel receipts by state for company-owned semi tractors. u2022 Manage customer payments by receiving and applying checks and electronic transfers through Huntington Banku2019s website, ensuring prompt filing and organization. u2022 Review and take action on suspended transactions in the banku2019s Positive Pay Security Report, verifying vendor details and payment amounts to prevent fraud. u2022 Process grant applications related to drug testing policies, ensuring compliance with organizational requirements. Requirements u2022 Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes. u2022 Strong knowledge of billing functions and account reconciliation. u2022 Familiarity with general accounting practices and principles. u2022 Experience working with QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop or similar accounting software. u2022 Ability to manage month-end financial tasks and reporting. u2022 Excellent organizational skills to maintain accurate and timely filing systems. u2022 Attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies in financial transactions. u2022 Strong communication skills for vendor and customer interactions.
