Job Title: Millwright Assistance Job Description We are seeking dedicated Mechanical Ship Repair Technicians to join our team and support ongoing ship repair projects. This role involves hands-on work aboard active vessels, where you will perform a variety of mechanical tasks, including disassembly, cleaning, inspection preparation, and reassembly of shipboard mechanical systems. Responsibilities + Perform mechanical maintenance and repair aboard ships. + Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble low-temperature fresh water coolers. + Remove plates and gaskets, clean components, and reinstall systems. + Replace nozzles on high-pressure air flasks. + Conduct blue lining and boiler-related work, such as opening boilers and cleaning internal components. + Use hand tools and power tools daily, ensuring adherence to shipyard safety requirements and inspection standards. + Collaborate with supervisors, inspectors, and shipyard personnel to ensure quality work. Essential Skills + Proficiency in mechanical tasks, tools, and maintenance. + Experience in ship repair, industrial maintenance, or heavy equipment is preferred. + Ability to work aboard ships and in industrial environments. + Comfortable using hand tools and performing physical work. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Previous experience in ship repair is preferred but not required. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 2:15 PM. Currently, there is no overtime scheduled. The work environment involves working aboard ships and in industrial settings, requiring adherence to safety standards and protocols. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Charleston, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
