Collections Specialist

Description We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Collections Specialist to join our team in Houston, Texas. This role is pivotal in managing accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely collections, and maintaining accurate financial records. As this is a Contract to permanent position, it offers an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your abilities and grow within the organization. Responsibilities: u2022 Manage the end-to-end collections accounts receivable process, including invoice creation. u2022 Utilize and navigate multiple customer portals to track payments and resolve issues efficiently. u2022 Follow up on disputes, ensuring timely resolution and excellent customer interaction. u2022 Post cash payments accurately and promptly, maintaining up-to-date records. u2022 Work collaboratively with the tax manager to handle sales and use tax certificates and upload data into the Vertex system. u2022 Handle a high volume of transactions, processing 1,500 to 2,000 invoices monthly. u2022 Serve as a proactive and self-motivated team member, taking initiative to meet organizational goals. u2022 Support external collections efforts while maintaining positive customer relationships. u2022 Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures throughout the collections process. Requirements u2022 Proven experience in collections, including both commercial and consumer accounts. u2022 Proficiency in using customer portals for payment tracking and issue resolution. u2022 Strong skills in cash posting and accounts receivable processes. u2022 Excellent communication and customer interaction abilities. u2022 Familiarity with sales and use tax processes, including certificates and Vertex systems, is a plus. u2022 Ability to manage high transaction volumes with accuracy and efficiency. u2022 Self-starter with a strong sense of initiative and the ability to work independently. u2022 Knowledge of financial software and systems is advantageous.
