Job Description

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to support cost control, change management, contract compliance, and risk mitigation for outsourced construction projects. In this role, you will serve as a key field resourceu2014verifying work, documenting progress, analyzing contract adherence, and ensuring successful, on-time delivery of complex electrical transmission line and substation projects in central upstate New York.This position works closely with Project Managers, Cost Management, Project Controls, Construction Supervisors, and other internal stakeholders to maintain commercial and contractual integrity throughout each project lifecycle.Key ResponsibilitiesChange Order Management Validate change orders by providing field documentation to Project Management and Cost Management teams. Verify field performance and report on pricing accuracy, supporting documentation, and contract compliance. Ensure timely submission and accurate unit usage, volumes, and counts for all change work.Cost Validation Review field activities to ensure labor, material, and equipment costs accurately reflect the work performed. Confirm alignment between contractor estimates and actual field measurements or performance.Contract Compliance & Reporting Provide analysis to ensure projects stay on time and within budget. Monitor on-site contractor resources to determine whether they meet contractual commitments. Document and report risks, non-compliance, and non-conformance issues to stakeholders. Support formal notices of non-compliance and respond to audit or assurance requests. Submit regular project activity reports per contractual requirements.Schedule Monitoring Review looku2011ahead schedules and project controls data to validate change orders. Identify schedule risks to the projectu2019s critical path and escalate issues to the appropriate stakeholders.Risk Management Work with Risk Managers and Project Managers to identify contractual terms and remedies that can mitigate project risks.Stakeholder Engagement Collaborate with contractors and internal teams to understand work being performed and ensure alignment with contractual obligations.Key Daily Tasks Review contract documents, drawings, resource plans, and schedules to fully understand contractual obligations. Assess deviations raised by Project Managers and apply the appropriate contract language to support resolutions. Review daily reports to identify potential issues or disputes. Work with Project Manager, Project Controls, and Construction Supervisor to ensure proper tracking of all change work. Document all changeu2011related activity, including labor, equipment, time, and materials. Immediately report community, environmental, or safety issues and support remediation efforts with documented observations. Conduct field schedule analyses, highlighting risks to the critical path and overall project milestones. Use the IMS system to submit contractor performance evaluations. #LI-CC1 #epjobs #naepjobs Education & Experience Bacheloru2019s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience) or 3-7 years of experience in quantity surveying, cost control, contract administration, or field-based commercial management. Experience supporting utility, energy, infrastructure, or heavy construction projects preferred. Prior field exposure verifying contractor performance, measuring work, or documenting change work. OSHA 10-Hour (or must be able to obtain) Candidate must have clean driving recordTechnical Skills Strong understanding of construction contracts, commercial terms, bill of quantities, and contractual remedies. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and schedules. Proficiency in cost analysis, pricing validation, and evaluating contractor estimates. Familiarity with project controls tools, looku2011ahead schedules, and critical path concepts. Experience with change order management, time-and-material documentation, and field verification. Working knowledge of risk management principles and contractual mitigation strategies.
