Laboratory Manager - Microbiology/Molecular

LabCorp is seeking a Lab Manager to join our team in Tampa, FL. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday start time 6am-8am flexible Job Responsibilities u00b7 Direct the daily operational activities of the Microbiology and Molecular departments; both the technical and non-technical operations u00b7 Effectively manage the staffing of the department and monitor the production schedule to ensure adequate coverage and proper use of overtime, and adjust as needed u00b7 Directly supervisor, train, and mentor supervisors along with responsibility for all departmental staff u00b7 Ensure the diagnostics laboratory provides market leading service levels, meeting the needs of our clients and corporate service metrics established for TAT u00b7 Resolve client inquiries and operational issues in a timely manner by consulting with the Medical Director, Technical Director, QA, managers, discipline directors, laboratory directors or corporate operations u00b7 Ensure laboratory is compliant with corporate, state and federal regulatory requirements (CAP, CLIA, State, ISO, etc) related to personnel safety and quality of laboratory testing as well as professional conduct u00b7 Assist with developing and implementing laboratory procedures and installation of equipment and methods u00b7 Manage staff including hiring qualified employees, performance management, training and development u00b7 Ensure effective communication with leadership, clients, sales, corporate operations and all departmental staff u00b7 Conduct departmental meetings and ensure appropriate departmental communication u00b7 Investigate deviations from established procedures to ensure effective corrective action u00b7 Maintain technical knowledge in the assigned department(s) for the laboratory testing Minimum Qualifications u00b7 Bacheloru2019s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology u00b7 5 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience u00b7 Florida Clinical Supervisor Licensure in Microbiology and Molecular u00b7 1 year or more of supervising or leading a team Preferred Qualifications u00b7 1 year or more of experience managing people leaders u00b7 ASCP or AMT certification Additional Job Standards u00b7 In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements u00b7 Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures u00b7 Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment u00b7 Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations u00b7 Proven success in training and developing both technical and non-technical employees u00b7 Ability to work independently and within a team environment u00b7 Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems u00b7 High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills u00b7 Ability to problem solve and provide solutions under minimal supervision u00b7 Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment u00b7 Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position u00b7 Able to pass a standardized color blindness test u00b7 Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs At LabCorp we have a passion for helping people live happy and healthy lives.
