The Hartfordu2019s Actuarial Strategic Modeling (ASM) organization is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to strengthen analytical and modeling capabilities supporting pricing, segmentation, underwriting strategies, and portfolio insights within Business insurance. What You Will Do Model Development & Analytics u2022 Contribute and lead key phases of end-to-end model development including problem definition, data exploration, model development, validation, and monitoring. u2022 Engage in the development and enhancement of predictive models u2014 while thoughtfully assessing alternative approaches and techniques to support loss, territory/Geography, and emerging claim level modeling needs. u2022 Partner with Data Engineering and MLOps teams to support deployment and monitoring. Cross-Functional Collaboration u2022 Partner with Actuarial, Underwriting, Product, Data Engineering, and Governance teams to align modeling work with business strategies. u2022 Communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. Innovation & Modernization u2022 Explore new modeling methods, data sources, and tools. u2022 Contribute to shared modeling frameworks and best practices. Technical Leadership & Mentorship u2022 Provide peer learning, code reviews, and technical guidance. u2022 Support continuous improvement of modeling standards. Qualifications Required u2022 5+ years experience developing statistical or ML models. u2022 Masteru2019s/PhD in Statistics, Data Science, Applied Math, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, or related field. u2022 Strong Python and SQL skills; experience with Git and cloud ML environments. u2022 Ability to collaborate across functions and communicate insights effectively. Preferred u2022 Insurance analytics experience. u2022 Familiarity with model governance and monitoring. u2022 Experience with Agile delivery or MLOps pipelines. u2022 Ability to mentor and support the development of Data Science and Actuarial peers. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position. Compensation The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartfordu2019s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
