Anesthesia Support Technician opportunity in the Anesthesia Services department. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least three years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician or two years in an anesthesia support capacity at MD Anderson Cancer Center. The ability to communicate effectively, and familiarity with computer technology, email correspondence, and telephone usage/etiquette is preferred. Shift: 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm Monday - Friday with rotating weekends and holiday call Salary: $43,000- minimum $54,000 - midpoint $65,000 - maximum What's in it for You? SUMMARY The primary purpose of the Anesthesia Support Technician position is to support the nurse anesthetists and anesthesiologists with the administration of anesthesia to patients undergoing surgery in the operating room. KEY FUNCTIONS Clinical Support (patient care): Provide technical support for the delivery of anesthesia care in the OR and off-site areas under the immediate direction of the anesthesiologist or CRNA. Conduct face-to-face interaction with anesthesia providers prior to case starts. Provide support to anesthesia faculty and staff by obtaining needed supplies, drugs or equipment for the delivery of cancer care in the OR and off- site areas. Set up intravenous fluids, gas cylinders, arterial monitors, blood and fluid warmers, and humidifiers using aseptic techniques. Set up or assist with set up of anesthesia machines and suction equipment for each procedure. Readily available in assigned areas, responding to staff pages in a timely manner. Maintain operating rooms by cleaning, assembling and restocking anesthesia equipment and supplies. Disposes of appropriate items and ensure all items are replaced and in appropriate location. Restocks carts and supplies daily prior to shift end. Completes shift to shift hand-off prior to departure (face-to-face). Equipment and Supply Management: Determine clinician set-up needs prior to cases, ensure equipment and supplies are ready for cases. Completes supply room inventory and restocking, as needed. Training and Compliance Regulations: Completes yearly assessment of competencies. Knowledgeable of all guidelines, policies and safety requirements as determined by regulatory and standard setting agencies or organizations. EDUCATION Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred: Associate degree in Anesthesia Technology EXPERIENCE Required: Three years of Anesthesia Technician experience; or two years in an anesthesia support capacity at MD Anderson Cancer Center; with the preferred degree, no experience is required. Preferred: Required experience plus possess strong organizational skills, the ability to communicate effectively, and familiarity with computer technology, email correspondence, and telephone etiquette. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Preferred Certification: Certified Anesthesia Tech American Association of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT).
