Outside Machinist

We have an exciting opportunity for Outside Machinists at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia with one of our Clients in the Ship Repair Industry. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Must hold active security clearanceMust have 6 or more years of experience as a marine outside machinistDry dock experience on shafts, rudders, stabilizers and propellers is preferred.Disassembles of various types of equipment and machinery common to maritime vessels and/or general industry including but not limited to pumps, valves, winches, gear boxes.Assist in determining repairs and required to bring equipment to rebuild status.Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxesExperience with valve overhaul and hull inserts Installation of lift check valveTesting main enginesHydrostatic testing Lube and oil flushingAir conditioning hydroInstallation of valve and pump packingInstall turbineInstall boiler tube replacementFit and blue check linersInstall steam valvesInstallation of hydraulic systems Shafting and bearing workBlueprint reading HOURS:May work 8,10 or 12 hours shifts determined by the project. PAY:$30 Hr +#ISS
