No County Onondaga Street Address 7900 Green Lakes Road City Fayetteville State NY Zip Code 13066 Duties Description Under the supervision of the Park Manager 3, SG-23, the incumbent plays a vital role in overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of the Green Lakes State Park, ensuring the safety and satisfaction of visitors while protecting the parku2019s natural and physical assets. The Park Supervisor 1 is responsible for:u2022 Supervising park staff engaged in facility maintenance, groundskeeping, visitor services, and seasonal operations.u2022 Coordinating the scheduling and assignment of work, training employees, and evaluating performance. u2022 Assisting with budget preparation, procurement, inventory control, and revenue reporting.u2022 Ensuring compliance with agency policies and safety regulations.u2022 Responding to emergencies, resolving visitor issues, and supporting public programs and events.u2022 Performing hands-on maintenance work and operating light and heavy equipment as needed. The qualifications are:Two years of experience in the construction, operation, and/or maintenance of a park or recreational facility, one year of which must have been at a supervisory level.If you are a veteran or an individual with a disability and would like to apply for the Department of Civil Serviceu2019s 55-b/c Program, please visit for more information.Reassignment Qualifications: Current NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Employees only, with at least one year of permanent or contingent-permanent qualifying service as a Park Supervisor 1; if you have less than one year, you must be reachable on the current Park Supervisor 1 eligible list for this location.70.1 Transfer Qualifications: At least one year of permanent or contingent-permanent qualifying service as a Park Manager 1, SG 18. Only this title is eligible for 70.1 transfer.For all transfers noted, a comprehensive list of titles approved for transfer is available through Civil Service GOT-IT at Qualifications:In the absence of an eligible list(s) with three or more candidates willing to accept a position, a temporary provisional appointment may be considered. For provisional appointment, candidates must be meet the following minimum qualifications:Either 1.three years of experience in the construction, operation, or maintenance of a park, recreational facility, or campus; one year of this experience must be at a supervisory level;Or 2.an associate's or higher level degree or 60 college semester credit hours AND one year of supervisory experience in the construction, operation or maintenance of a park, recreational facility, or campus.A park, recreational facility, or campus is defined as a location that offers at least three of the following elements: athletic fields, skating rink, campgrounds, golf courses, hiking trails, historic structures, marinas, picnic areas, playgrounds, recreation programs, swimming facilities or education, environmental or interpretive programming. You must clearly list this information on your application.Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education (If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States or its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.Employees appointed via the NY HELPS program are restricted for promotional appointment until their position is covered-in to the competitive class by the New York State Civil Service Commission (CSC), or they otherwise obtain permanent competitive status. The CSC has recently covered-in employees who were appointed via NY HELPS on a permanent or contingent permanent basis between June 26, 2024 and June 11, 2025.
